We're taking a laptop to BCV (1 bedroom) and OKW (studio). We know DVC menbers get internet connectivity -- is it by wireless in the villas or is it via network cable? If it's cable, where does it connect and how long should the network cable be? We'll bring our own if a cable is necessary.

It is a wired connection, no wireless unless you just happen to pick up another person's unsecured access point.

There is at least one jack in the unit, usually in the master bedroom on the desk (although the one a VWL was on the floor under the kitchen table and ran to a cisco router/switch under the sofa), and its usually marked HSIA (High Speed Internet Access).

There should be a 7' or 10' Cat5 cable in the master closet for you to use, its in a special bag hanging there marked for that purpose.

You will still get the splash screen when you first open your browser about it being $9.95 for 24 contiguous hours, but you shouldn't see any charges on your bill if you are staying on points.

At OKW, the connection is by the dining room table. At BCV, the connection also by the dining room table.

At SSR, it's in the bedroom at the desk. So, does anyone know if family staying in a room on points gets free internet? We , the DVC members will have one room and DD and family will have the other room. Do they get free internet also?

The last time we were at BWV the internet jack was next to the table in the studio. I didn't check for a cable in the closet because we had our own network cable. However, I've seen them in the closet at BWV. There aren't any at HHI since the internet there is wifi. :surfweb:

If you, the member, booked both units on points then yes they should get free Internet too. I think their intent was for this to be a members-only perk but I don't know if they distinguish between member stays on points vs. rented stays on points.
