Computer Access in Disney Resort and Cruise

I have a quick question. Does anyone know if it is free to use the computers in the resorts and especially on the Disney Cruise Line? We are taking a family vacation and will be doing one of those land and sea cruises and will be bringing along my Nikon D50. I do not want to bring my laptop to dump pictures off of my SD cards. I do have an 80 GB portable 2.5 USB hard drive and was thinking I could use a computer to transfer from the camera to the USB drive. Is this possible? I know they charge for internet connection but how about just general use?

Thanks,

I do not know the answer to your question, but I would not rely on a hard drive to store your pictures. The best thing to do is copy them to a hard drive and then burn them to a disk. If you have a car with you, there are many places right off property that will burn CDs for about $3-4. On property, it is a much higher price and I believe that they limit the number of shots that go on a disk instead of measuring the MBs that fit on a disk.

If I recall correctly, the computers on board the Magic (only ship we've been on) do not have much in the way of data transfer. I remember a basic keyboard and mouse with a monitor.

You can get the photo shop to burn your images to a CD for a fee, but I'd rely on your own methods for convenience.

Sooo, with a screen name like that, "What's on tap"???

Thanks for the info... I was planning on just using the hard drive for back-up and keeping the pictures on the SD card. I have about 10GB in cards so hopefully that will be enough.

As far as what's on tap? Pale Ale, SN Celebration Ale clone, Octoberfest and Holiday Ale.

I need to figure out how to pack some of it away to bring on board the ship.

On the Wonder (2 years ago) you couldn't even physically reach the computer. I don't think they allow for general usage. I took my laptop and was glad I did just to be able to review and dump. Have a great trip.

It is definately not free. Our last night, I used the "internet cafe" to log onto the airline website and print out boarding passes. This simple task added a $12 charge to our cabin. It's slow and expensive. $.75 per minute.
