Room upgrades, at both Disney and Universal, happen due to resort operational needs such as overbooking or a room unexpectedly going out of inventory. Unfortunately, they don't do it to be kind. In the current environment, the upgrades seen at WDW have been them moving people from resorts that will be closed during their travel dates to resorts that will be open, which may be a level or two up from where they were booked. This wouldn't be a factor at Universal. Frankly, since attendance and resort capacity is so low, I can't seem them needing to move many people due to operational needs, as long as the resort is open.
All of that said, it doesn't hurt to politely mention your honeymoon and ask if there's an upgrade available. Most employees' hands will be tied, but if you don't ask, the answer is always no!
