Complicated DME question

In Aug. our family will be in WDW for a Grand Gathering. Some family members are arriving and departing on different days. I have somewhat of a complicated question.

My inlaws have two resort reservations. A room only for one night at Pop Century as well as several nights at the Polynesian. My BIL will be flying in by himself. Even though he has the Pop reservation, he wants to take DME to the Polynesian where he's meeting us for dinner and wants to bring his luggage with him and leave it in our room or at Bell Services overnight if they allow it so that he doesn't have to worry about having it transferred - we will have already been there several days. Can't my BIL just get on the DME bus that goes to the Polynesian? I contacted DME today and I was told no, he must be taken to Pop. Can anyone confirm that this is the case?

well, let's put it this way... if he gets on to a bus that goes to both Poly and POP, there's no way for them to determine which resort he got off at. if he's not that lucky, he may be able to coerce the DME folks at the airport to arrange for it to happen a little easier.

officially, DME goes to and from your home resort. that's the deal.

Everything I've read on here so far has said you have to be picked up and dropped off at the resort at which you have a resevation.

True. But's it's highly unlikely that the same DME motorcoach will go to both Poly and POP. Usually, the motorcoaches each serve 2-4 resorts in the same vicinity, such as or CBR-POP or POR-POFQ-SSR or Magic Kingdom resorts.

So the only way to take DME to Poly is to be on the Poly room reservation. Ideally, correct the room reservations so that they accurately reflect who will be staying in which resort -- and then DME shouldn't be a problem.

He does have a Poly room reservation but his stay there begins the day after he arrives in WDW. His first night will spent at Pop.

Sorry, but the ride is tied to where you are staying upon 'arrival'. He is going to have to ride to POP and then make the switch the next day. Of course, he could just pack his carryon with what he is going to need for the night, and then take a cab to the Polynesian, with his checked bags, to meet you guys the day he arrives. Then, you can put his luggage in the room, and he won't have to worry about it the next day. And, he gets to the Polynesian faster this way. It would be quicker than taking the bus from POP to MK and then the monorail (or boat) to the Polynesian.
In the morning he can meet you at the designated park and go from there.

Or, if you’re doing the land portion first and have ‘spare’ luggage room (on both the plane and based on your number of DME tags), could he pack early and give you his suitcase to bring with you? Then he just needs to take a carry-on, and his luggage will already be at the Polynesian – in your room, delivered by DME the day you arrive – when he gets there. He’ll still have to take the bus to Pop Century first – which he probably wants to do anyway, to get checked in.
