If you own BCV at 150 points and you own AKL for 150 points. Lets say you bank(for example) 2008 AKL points. In 2009 can you call using the 11 month window at BCV and use the 150 BCV points for 2009 and the 150 AKL from 2008?( The key for this question is the 11 month) Or is that a no-no because they are two different contracts? Can you ever combine the two contracts points in a transfer of some kind if you can't do that trick?

Thank You,
Robert

You can't use the AKL points for BCV at the 11 month window. It has nothing to do with different contracts. You can only use points for the resort you are booking at the 11 month window.

Ownership of two different resorts never changes the stripes of the points. AKV points can be used at AKV 11 months out and BCV points can be used at BCV 11 months out but you cannot use both at one resort 11 months out.

Why is it this way: consider the possibilities -- if you could mix points at 11 months out just by owning both then someone at, for example SSR, would only need to add-on 25 points (the minimum add-on) at BCV and suddenly all his SSR and BCV points could be used at BCV 11 months out. That would tick off BCV owners to no end.

I think I get that. Can you ever combine your resorts from the two? I know you can buy someone elses points, but can you "buy" your points from one to other. So, in my example can you ever have 300 points by combining the two and book in the 7 month window?

Yes, you can combine at the 7 month window. You can also borrow at the 11 month window. For example, you have 150 AKL points, you can use 2009 AKL & borrow 2010 AKL at the 11 month window (for a stay in the 2009 use year). If you bank, you could have 450 AKL (banked 2008, current 2009, borrow 2010). But only the home resort points can be used at 11 months (you can't mix BCV to stay at AKL).

If reserving at 7 months out, you can combine everything you have in the applicable use year (whether regular or banked points) for all resorts you own and reserve at any DVC resort. You don't have "buy" or transfer anything.

These apply if all your contracts have the same master number. If you purchase resale contracts with different master numbers, you can only use them to get full nights - unless you use the once a year transfer to transfer points from one contract to another. So, if you have two AKV contracts with two separate master contract numbers XXXXX.00 and YYYYY.00, one with 8 points and one with 7 points and you need 15 points for a night, you'd have to transfer points from one contract to another to use the 15 points for a single night's stay.

That's helpful for a newbie to know. How would this work (if it could) if you have different UY?

If you have two different use years, that means you have two separate master contracts.

All Add-on contract will have the same use year month as the original master.

Example 1: You have 150 June OKW points, and 150 June (Add-on) AKV points. At 7 months you can think of it as having 300 points to use any way you want.

Example 2: You have 150 June OKW points, and 150 August (separate master contract, with a separate membership number) AKV points. At 7-months you still have two contracts of 150 points each, with each totally independent of the other.

To illustrate how this works, here's what we did for an upcoming reservation:

We have two different contracts (OKW and BCV) with 2 different use years:

At 11 months out, we booked the first three nights of our OKW vacation with our OKW points. At 7 months out, we booked the remaining two nights with our BCV points, and linked the reservation together.

Hope this helps.
