I just watched the special section of the DVC DVD that talks about all of the plans for building Kidani Village. I think it's called "A village rises from the Savannah" or something like that. Anyway, at the beginning it states "Kidani Village is scheduled for completion in early 2009" Then later in the video it says "Kidani Village accomodations will open in phases starting early 2009" Now I am assuming that the second phrase is more correct since I cannot see that whole building being finished it a little over a year, however, I also know that they are about 4 months ahead of schedule. Does any one want to guess when the actual completion date will be on Kidani assuming sales continue at a brisk pace?

please explain this comment, have I missed something:confused3

it was just in reference to a rather lengthy discussion we recently had concerning the construction of a walkway from AKV to the Animal Kingdom park

it wont really have any effect on the completion date

or will it?

I forgot about that:rolleyes1

Completion date and sales pace should not be connected.

I stopped by AKL yesterday. I could see Kidani "rising". One of the CMs did say that it is ahead of schedule. If it is inddeed ahead of schedule, I think the opening in phases thing is accurate. It is a huge building and would be an incredible challenge to complete the entire thing by 2009, but a phased opening makes sense.

Hmmmm, if it is ahead of schedule and opens early, I can just imagine the havock it will wreck with those of us with AKV reservations. I bet that as soon as an opening is announced MS phone lines will be over whelmed with DVCers (myself included :rotfl2: ) trying to change their Jambo House reservations over to Kidani.

Can you point me in the direction of that thread. I missed that one I think.

I dissagree, If sales are brisk, and they are getting low on inventory Disney has two choices: stop selling, or put more people on the job so that the completion date of units is moved up. (According to FL law, construction has to have progressed to a certian point before Disney can sell new units) I know Disney, they will not stop selling as long as there are willing buyers! My understanding is that they are getting low on inventory(reletave to projected demand), and this is why the construction is 4 months ahead of schedule, and the OKW extensions were made. DVC can sell OKW points with a 2007 experation date when inventory gets low.

yeah but I thought the law was: you could sell once a certain % of the entire building was complete?

so sales could be complete before the construction is really what 30% from completion

Exactly. If you look at the design of the village, it appears to be one giant building. It's not like SSR where they could have added/subtracted buildings based on demand.

I think the building is actually in sections connected by bridges. My paperwork actually shows this on the plot plan. I think this could be to allow them to open it in phases as it is built. This might be why all of the marketing material says Kidani Village will "Open in phases starting in 2009" Of course I could be nuts, nuts.:)

i would guess DVC could probably manipulate it to go either way, depending on how they want it to proceed
