Kim Possible. Arthur. The Loud House. They’re the names you’ve heard a lot. And they all have a thing in common-they were on big channels like Disney Channel and yes, Nickelodeon, PBS and others. What was your favorite out of all them?

these were not around until I was an adult (well, pbs was but no cartoons on there back then). when my kids were little I like Nickelodeon best-rugrats, aaah real monsters, rockos modern life...

Similarly, I only had over- the-air tv stations when I was young. And cartoons could be on any of them depending on the day and time. Aside from CBS, NBC and ABC, we also had WPIX, WOR and WNEW as the main stations I recall viewing.

My children watched a lot of Nickelodeon, though not just for cartoon shows.

I am old, so no cable when I was growing up, but when I had my son it was all Nickelodeon! Even as an adult I enjoyed most of what they had, especially Ren and Stimpy.

Yes, I agree with other posters. When I was an actual child, none of these channels existed. I watch Saturday morning cartoons on one of the three networks, depending on what was offered.

Must be from the non cable gen I see… including the weird time of Disney being on NBC…

We didn't have Disney Channel for most of my childhood, as it was not on basic cable. I watched mostly Nickelodeon and PBS, I don't remember having a preference.

When I was a kid, we didn't have cable and Disney Channel and Nick were fairly new. All the best cartoons were on our non-affiliated UHF TV stations - 24 & 30 here in Memphis. They showed all the great syndicated weekday cartoons from the 80's - He-Man, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Thundercats, M.A.S.K. - man, it was good times to be a kid!

Today, I'd definitaly vote for Disney as the go-to fro the best cartoons.

Throw me in with the old folks... ABC, NBC, and CBS were the options, and Saturday morning cartoons were all the rage! When DD was little she watched PBS cartoons 95% of the time, rarely Nickelodeon. Also Disney movies on video tape.

I guess you can also say that back then… one thing the kids of the 1990s and 2000s didn’t have were those wacky alternate broadcasts like the one Disney did tonight. Wow… Sulley straight up ripped apart the entire Eagles offense.

My kids grew up with the best era of cartoons. The only distinctly Disney one I remember was Bear in the Big Blue House, the others were Disney movies on VHS or CDs. All the rest were Nickelodeon. When they got a little older Disney had Hannah Montana and Cheetah Girls. This was the golden era of bubbles of shared experiences.

LOL. PBS was still NET when I was a kid. All the local stations ran cartoons on Saturday morning. Several ran cartoons from 4 pm to 6 pm during the week after school. Or reruns of I Love Lucy, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Munsters, The Adams Family, Gilligans Island. No favorite channel, lots of options given there were just 4 stations, CBS, ABC, NBC and Public Television. And Mr. Rogers didn't go on the air until I was 11. Public television never had cartoons that I recall.

Answer is more age specific. For anyone over the age of 60, the listed choices probably didn't exist when growing up and most watched cartoons on one of the 3 major networks.

What was great, and it wasn't on Disney Channel but on syndication, The Disney Afternoon. I remember when DuckTales premiered, and it was a big deal. It was on in prime time each night for a week (5-part pilot story) before joining Gummi Bears in afternoon syndication. It didn't become "The Disney Afternoon until they added Rescue Rangers and Talespin for a solid 2-hour block of Disney toons. Later came Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, etc. It was quality stuff!

I watched the broadcast networks' cartoons as a kid, but these were around when my DS was little. We watched PBS, Nick Jr., and Disney ones.
