Hi there! I am planning a summer vacation trip for July 2012 for a family of 7. DM, DSF, DB9, DB14, DD2, DH, and myself. We will be staying at the All Star Movies Resort. The two dining experiences we've chosen are Chef Mickey's and Cinderella's Royal Table. I know we have to book in advance, and well, that's all I know. I have read that I can make reservations 180 days in advance. Is this true or do I have more or less time? Can somebody please just walk me through all steps as if you were giving me step by step direction on how to do it? Also, do you suggest I have a back up plan as to what my reservation preferences are? TIA. Your help is GREATLY appreciated.

I would recommend you go online to Disney's website, click on dining and then explore from there. You won't be able to book anything that far out but play around with the site.
"pretend" if you will that you need ressies for next month, look them up and get the feel of how the site works.
It is really easy.

Next, yes you can make ressies 180days from your arrival date. If staying onsite you can then make up to 10 addition days ressies. Meaning if you are staying 5 days, you can make all 5 days adrs on that 180th day.

For Chef Mickey's all you have to do is book online (or call, I prefer online and then print my confirmation #...very easy). For this adr no credit card hold is needed.

Now for CRT it is a prepay meal. So you will have to pay for all 7 memebers going to the meal at the time of making the ressie. I have not done this restaurant before so I can't give any more detail on how to do it. (this one may be better made by calling...???)

Lastly it is a good idea to have back up restaurants in mind in case you can't get the ones you really want.

Have a good trip!!

First - DO NOT PANIC!!!! Making ADR's (Advance Dining Reservations) is very simple. Guests with a Reservation at a Disney Resort can make dining reservations 180 days before check in. If you give me your exact check-in date, I can tell you what day that will be. Go on-line to the official WDW web site and click on "Where to eat". You'll get a drop down menu - choose "Make Dining Reservations". From there, you'll get a screen which allows you to enter date, time, # in your party and restaurant name. Enter this information and click on "search for tables". The system will give you 2-3 options for times & ask you to select one.

****Cinderella's Royal Table is a VERY HOT ticket and difficult to get. You must also pay in advance (in full I think - never did this one) If you really want to eat there, be flexible as to days/times.

At 180 days out, you can make up to 10 days worth of ADRs. Since this is a perk only for WDW resort guests, at some point you will be prompted to enter your reservation information to confirm & link your dining reservations to your room ressie.

Go to the site & "practice" using ficticeous dates just to get the hang of it. Really, its easy.

Good luck & have a great time!!!

yes, you will be able to make your reservations 180 days in advance. I always use this site:

http://pscalculator.net/pscalc.php

to tell me when I can make my reservations. You enter in the first date of your trip and then the date that it says is 180 days out is the day you can make reservations. If you are staying on site at Disney you will be able to make the rest of your vacation reservations as well (up to 10 days out). If you're staying off site you'll need to call up or go online each day as each day comes up.

If you make your reservations right away when you can, you shouldn't have a problem getting your first choices. But don't wait as your two choices are very popular! Cinderella's table requires a credit card to hold the reservation.

You can call 407-WDW-DINE at 7am EST or you can go online at 6am EST. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/reservations/dining/

Thanks! Do you have any good back up character family friendly restaurants in mind? :)
