JUst returned from my first solo trip to Disney. I was there for the Star Wars 1/2 marathon so it was just a long weekend (Friday-Monday). Stayed in a 1 bedroom at Saratoga Springs in the Grandstand area which was very nice. I had a renatl car so getting around was pretty easy.
Only time it felt weird was eating at Kona Cafe on my first night there. A lady at a large group table next to me kept looking and then leaning in to her table and whispering. Each time she did a different person at her table would turn to look at me. Finally when she looked I raised my iced tea glass and while looking at her raised it a bit. She then stopped staring and left me alone.
Doing the rides was fun and easy being a party of one each time. I was able to get to the parks very early and get everything I wanted done by noon time. Then went back to the resort and hung around the pool.
Two things I did on this trip, one was take a selfie at different places around the parks. I would then send them to my family with the caption "where in the world is daddy" They had a blast guessing where I was each time.
The other was I brought a picture of my wife and daughters with me. At different places I had someone take my picture holding them up near my face. Then I sent it to them saying things like "you girls were with me getting nmy runners packet." "Watching the band play at the Grand Floridian."
All in all it was a great trip and I had a lot of fun!!

Getting ready to leave for my solo trip in a week and a half..(it feels good to say that!). I can't wait!

Great perspective on your solo trip. I leave for mine in about 4 weeks and was slightly hesitant. It never occurred to me until reading your post, I won't have to work around other people in the morning. What a delight that will be! lol

Thanks for sharing , what sounded like you had a great time.

I'm still working on myself, hoping to find the nerve to up and go on my own :)
The rides are my worst fear...

So glad you had a nice time!!

The rides were the easiest part. We have gone as a family for years and I always saw people on the rides alone. Most people just assume that your family just didn't want to ride it. No one is there to change your plans. Want to sit by the pool and read, or on a bench with an ice cream and people watch....whatever you want to do!!
Once I started I figured that I'll never see these people again in my life, so why not enjoy myself and have a good time.

You're so right and I know I should just be casual and at least pretend I don't mind being alone... :) I haven't gotten there yet. But I'm hoping to go in September or October maybe. And if a friend of mine won't come, I may just go by myself..

The rides are the easiest part, went solo last September/October for 10 days and had a great time. Go for it

This is great. My first solo will be at the end of October and I'll be staying at Saratoga Springs as well. I've been obsessively reading all the reviews of that resort (one of the DVC where I haven't stayed) though I admit I am on the waitlist for somewhere else.
Since you've been so recently any tips about being solo at Saratoga Springs? Especially for someone who is planning park action.

This wasn't my first choice either as my waitlist didn't come through. I would have preferred to stay at either Beach Club or Boardwalk and be close to EPCOT. This was also the first time I have ever been to this resort and with a short trip, didn't get much exploring done. I stayed in the Grandstand area which was the first right after passing the guard shack. They have a bus stop over there that was never crowded but since I had a rental car I drove to the parks.
Short walk to the main lobby area (5 minutes) to get my morning coffee and the small store had what you would expect for a DVC resort. One part I did like was how quiet the area was all the time. Sat by the pool for a few hours with a few other adults spaced out and had a nice afternoon.

I did my first solo trip last December, I was hesitant but finally booked when I couldn't find anyone else to go. Do it, you will love it!
