Anyone else have a 13 year old daughter that complains all the time. For a couple of weeks its about a her ear. Then the last couple of nights her eye would start twitching at bed time. She has also just started a cold. There is always somthing to complain about. Somthing always aches.

When my DD was 13 - I swore I would kill her. ;) She was sooooooo bad, honest, I couldn't believe what moody, whiny pain in the rearend she was. Where did my sweet little girl go???? I wondered it all the time.

But thankfully, she turned 15, and things started to change - for the better!! :) Now she's 16 and is quite pleasant most of the time. She has her teenage moodiness, yes, but nothing like between ages 12-14.

Hang in there - it DOES get better - really. :) :grouphug:

I have a 20 yr. old and a 17 yr. old - trust me, the complaining NEVER stops! And the drama just builds and builds.......

Ahhhh.... Patti sneated in and posted a different view! :rotfl:

Oh dear, my 11 yr old is the complainer, the 13 is not so bad.

Recently she (13 yr old) had been complaining about her muscles in her legs, her back, being tired, blah blah, finally did take her to the doctor and guess what? She has mono. :guilty: I guess I'd be complaining too!

This reminds me of my 12 year old whining at me telling me that she has a bad knee and I haven't done anything about it and that even when I take her to the doctor I don't say anything .... :confused3 , I never knew she had a bad knee....besides, why wouldn't she tell the doctor when he says what's wrong? :confused3 . So now when I take her to the doctor I ask her to tell the doctor of any bones or body parts that hurt. Thank God the doctor has a good sense of humor or he would think I am out of my mind.... ;)

Well, one of my kids is 12, and if she complained about aches and pains I'd believe her? :confused3 She has to be DYING to complain about anything, so I take her complaints seriously.

Perhaps you should take your daughter to a doctor for a check-up? I honestly would not ignore my child's physical complaints and dismiss them so easily.

its funny you should mention this.. Today my 14 yr old dd called me after school while I was at work to tell me she had a rash on her leg!!

Adolescents complaining tends to be a sign that they need attention. Lots of people don't realize what an awkward age these kids are going through. Complaining is how many deal with the changes. Maybe they just need some more attention....they are special kids. treasure them.

October is the Month of the Young Adolescent....did you know that?

Cheers,
Jungle Josh

13 year old girls are just about the worst thing on the planet :rotfl: . It gets better in about 3 or so years.

My son is almost 19 and a freshman in college. He's been complaining about something or other for years. It's unbelievable. For example, he will complain about an upcoming test (say Chemistry). It's going to be so hard, I've been studying for days, blah, blah, blah. A few days later he will call and start complaining about another class and I will say "How did that Chem test go?" Oh, I got 93%, but my test in Bio is going to be so hard, blah, blah, blah.

He doesn't need attention. He's our only child, he's the center of our world and he's lived a charmed life. I think he just needs to vent. So, we listen and listen some more. I'm sure when he matures, he will grow out of it - I hope so.

Oh boy, what has she been doing?? Mono, contrary to popular belief, is NOT easily transmitted!! :love2:

I have an 11 year old that tries the fake stomachache thing every morning (today was especially bad because it's yucky out - don't we all just want to crawl back into bed?). She actually loves school and isn't having any problems, she just wants to sleep longer. It hasn't worked in 6 years, I honestly don't get why she thinks she should try EVERY morning!

Right now, she could possibly have a broken toe, a sore finger, an itchy back, or the above stomachache. You pick.

Yes, I have a dramatic dd14. She complains about everything as well. I make her take the sleep it off test and miraclously all ailments are usually cured by morning.

My 14 yo DD has been known to do this. Last time I really remember it was at WDW in August. The heat just didn't sit well with her. We're walking around, she's complaining, I'm thinking "now why did I bring her?"

She will occasionally get in a mood that we think of as her Chicken Little mood. The sky is falling, life as we know it is ending. We feed her, and she's fine!

I have a 12 years old turning 13 next week and YES she complains about something hurting all the time last week it was her foot, last night it was her knee.
We decided she needed to stay off her knee this weekend so she can stay home all weekend I know that knee will be better tonight . :rotfl:

I like when they show you the rash, cut, unknown "thing" on a body part - right up close and personal...like 3 to 5 inches from your face. YAY!

My teen (14) complains alot (although getting less and lesser!!) but not about body aches/pains etc...............it is more like, "I am in high school now and all my friends have/do/get to............. this or that!!".

When she complains of a body part hurting, I normally head to the doctor. She is very physically fit (competitive cheerleader) but when she complains something hurts or aches, it usually proves true!!!

Age 12 to 13 was the worst!!!!! It does get better............although I never thought so it does!!

As for the mono thing..............it is going around at my DD's school and soem at her cheerleading gym have had it recently.
