Ok, I'm pretty new to running. I've only run one 5K so far BUT I just LOVE listening to my IPOD when I do my regular runs or walks. I was allowed to wear my IPOD in the 5K I ran so that wasn't a problem there.

For those of you who compete regularly and LOVE listening to your IPODS/MP3 players while you run/walk, what do you when you run a marathon or competitive run and you're not allowed to use it? Do you sing in your head?? LOL or ....:lmao: ?? Do you think you are quicker with it or without it? ;)

I'm guessing no earphones for the Minnie Marathon pretty much means no ear pods either..;)...... :sad2:...:scared: ...:scared1:

I find the whole atmosphere of the race full of tension and exciting. There are so many sites to see as you go by, most often an area I haven't been in, and plenty of people to be with. So...I don't miss it. I am not a runner, though, but I have tried wearing the Ipod on a race and just plain found it distracting!

WHile WDW race info says no ear phones or they're not recommended, I've never heard of that being enforced. That doesn't mean it on't get enforced one day, but it hasn't been yet.

I depend upon the IPOD to keep up my pace, but I have always used only one ear piece for safety reasons. So far, I have not been told to take it off in any race I have done (several Disney races and the GA ING 1/2 marathon).

Yes I really depend on my music to keep my pace also. I would love to be able to use it during the Minnie run if I can. Just wanted to make sure they don't kick me out of the race for using it:eek: -I don't mind if they tell me to stop using it. I'll bring it with me. Thanks for the feedback!:thumbsup2

I always use my IPOD while running. But, in the last Disney Marathon I only listened to it for about 10 minutes the entire race. I had the ear buds in, but there was too much going on. Every time I turned it on something interesting would be going on so I'd turn it off again.

I used my IPOD almost the entire time in the last half marathon I just ran (non Disney). Fun course , but no entertainment.

So I say take them and play it by "ear":rotfl:

enjoy,
Duane

I like that bit of advice!:lmao: Thanks!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I always listen to my iPod when I run alone. I actually bought a new iPod after last year's Minnie and had it engraved with my screen name and 39.3 for Goofy- that's how bad I am. Would you believe I carried it with me for the entire Goofy and never turned it on!? I was having so much fun talking to people and looking around that I just never got around to it!

Disney races are really special. I still always take my iPod in local races, but at the Minnie I am dumping the iPod and making more room for my camera. I took a ton of pictures during the marathon and intend to this time too!

Can't say I'm competitive, but I love listen to my ipod when I run. I listen in one ear and have actually cut the other ear bud off. However, I don't plan on using it at the Minnie as this is my first race and I want to take it all in. I think the cute mile markers and time people along the way will keep my on pace.:)
