Competing Snow White retellings?

Looks like several groups are trying to duplicated Disney's success with Alice In Wonderland...to the point of their being competing Snow White projects, including Disney's own. Disney is apparently also retooling Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty...

Sleeping Beauty & Snow White can probably be told again but versions Cinderella has been done over & over & over so many times. I mean you even get sitcoms doing their "1-hour" special episodes based off the simple Cinderella plot.

I believe the Disney's new "Sleeping Beauty" is going to be called "Malificent" and will be from the villain's point of view. Early word is Angelia Jolie is in talks to play Malificent, with Tim Burton directing.

I agree, I HATE his movies! I'd love to see a movie from Maleficent's point of view but not if he's directing - that would ruin it for me.

I enjoyed his early work, but for me it has gotten to be too much. Also I do not like the idea of Angelina Jolie in it.

Neither Jolie or Burton's a given at this point -- I think the film is pencilled in for 2013, so it's not under way right now. They haven't signed anyone (as far as I know), but they have expressed interest in both (and Jolie, at least, has publicly expressed that she shares the interest). That's as far as it's gone, publicly...

I think Angelica Huston would be a far more effective Maleficent. She has the stature and voice to play the role beautifully. Angelina Jolie might be okay but I'm not sure she can get that sinister purr into her voice.

Wonder what part he'll use Helena Bohnam Carter for since she is in most of his films? Maybe Flora or Merryweather?

I like his films. I think it could be a lot of fun.

I have to say that the re-done ALICE was fair at best.
I guess there is a market for this sort of thing tho, so why not SNOW and SLEEPING BEAUTY??

I love Tim Burton's work but Angelina Jolie as Malificent?! Really? What a joke! How about someone who is actually good like Idina Menzel? She'd be an awesome Malificent!
