I have/had a Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD, which I LOVE(D)!

However- about a year ago I spilled juice on it. (Grandson's juice box was in my purse where my camera was- and juice leaked on/in the camera.)

I replaced it with another Cannon: Canon PowerShot Elph 130 16MP Digital Camera with 8x Optical Zoom from Target.

However- I just don't get as good of photos as I did with my first (and pricier) Cannon.

We are going on a cruise (Disney of course  )in late September. I think I would like to bite the bullet and purchase the same model as my first before we set sail. However- I see a lot of "item not available" on different websites.

Does anyone have an idea where I could purchase? Or what camera would be compatible...? :confused3

Thanks for your insights. I am not a "photographer" but I did get some pretty darn good photos with that camera!

The good Canon PnS cameras (that get good reviews from photo websites) have 12 MP sensors. The cheap Canon cameras have 16mp sensors...(more is not always better)

OP, I feel your pain! Well, not yet, my SD780 is still working fine!

It is probably one of the best pocket-able P&S cameras that I have owned. Took GREAT pics on my Caribbean cruise this past April.

I see that eBay has several for sale. If you want to chance that. Amazon also has them. But the price that they are asking is ridiculous!

On several photography forums, the Canon S100 and the newer S110 are very loved cameras. You may want to check them out. If I were in the market for a new pocket P&S, I would be considering one of these.

The Panasonic LX7 is a step up form the canons. A bit bigger and not perfect. Bit better image quality and usability. For more money the SONY RX100 is excellent. If you can go even bigger the Olympus E-PM2 is a great deal in the 425-500 range and can later accept other lenses.

The LX7 is a good camera, but it mostly fits between the very similiar s110 and G15 in the enthuiast camera market. They all have the larger than average 1/1.7" sensor. The s110 is more slim but is "slower" at zoom. The G15 has much more zoom than the LX7, but is still "fast"..but is a bit bulkier camera.

Seriously great answers! I've been researching all the info- sounds like I have some good options.

If anyone has any other thoughts- I am still checking this thread!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm really digging the Nikon J1 I saw, refurbed and $230 with a kit lens.
