Can anyone give us a comparison? Is it similar or lower quality?

I don't know if it is a fair comparison. A moderate at WDW is a resort with resort amenities (neat pool, some dining, possible bar, activities such as boating or biking. The CC is a U shaped motel property with a tiny pool.

The rooms at Candy Cane are similar. They feel larger than a moderate, I don't know if they are.

The beds are WAY more comortable at Candy Cane.

You can easily walk to DLR from CC. It is either car of bus to anywhere in WDW from a moderate.

CC has a free continental breafast buffet. Moderates do not.

The only hotel in the Disney area that compares to the World is the Grand Californian. The Candy Cane is on the level of a high level motel 6 or a Howard Johnson. Not in the league of a World Moderate or even an All Stars as far as look or amenities.

Its close, its cheap and your going to be in the park mostly anyway.

We have Cast Member friends that come out once a year or so from WDW and they always stay at the Candy Cane Inn. I think it is a very nice, clean, friendly hotel. You don’t have all the amenities that you would have at a WDW resort. It is close enough to walk to the parks, however they do also have a shuttle bus that runs on the hour and half hour and it was pretty dependable. The pool is nice; it can be a little small in the summer time. I joined them for the continental breakfast a few times and did not go away hungry. The inside eating area and pool deck do get a little crowded.
