Comparing cost of renting DVC/booking direct

We're taking a very impulsive last minute trip in january because the flights were so cheap we couldn't pass them up. Right now I'm booked at CBR for about $145/night. Is there any way to beat that by renting DVC points? I can't seem to find a way to compare the costs directly. Also, the whole process is confusing to me. Does anyone know if there's a tool out there to simplify it? TIA!

The problem is that this late in booking, very little if anything will be available. You might be able to piece a trip together but it would involves moves.

If you are flexible on where you stay and can find someone that has points expiring soon, you can get a DVC resort for less than CBR. You do lose out on a few things, but you get Deluxe accommodations.

Most DVC Rental sites will have very little availability........not NO availability.........just little. If you're dates are during Marathon weekend..........none may actually be your option.........very busy time for DVC. We visited in January 2016 and booked 11 months in advance.

You may want to try the DVC forum here on the DISboards. Could be worth a shot.

We just bought points from David's. We are DVC members, but used all of our points. They cost about $1,100 for 4 nights during Memorial Day weekend.

The fewest number of points would be for a studio at OKW, 10 points per night, IF it were available for your dates. If David is charging $16 a point, that $160 a night. Now if he has bargain points AND the studio is available, it would be less.

No one DVC resort has full availability for your nights. The biggest problem are the weekend nights. You might be able to piece it together, but that would mean checking out, checking into a different resort, maybe even a non-DVC resort for some of the nights. Which makes for a hectic trip.

Agree.

Now, if you're desiring a monorail or Epcot resort, you're almost assuredly out of luck...both from an availability AND cost standpoint. But...SSR, OKW, and *maybe* AKL might be available and could fit your budget.
