Comparing BCV and BWV for a prospective DVCer

I'm not the expert here, but I understand your question and it's the crux of the problem that we had. If I've got this wrong....I'm sure someone else will step in and correct me.

At the 11 mo window you have to have enough points from your current year, previous year's banked points or the future year in order to make the full reservation you desire. Right now you would be working with current or banked '02 points, points coming in your '03 allotment and then borrowing from '04.

If you joined BCV now with magical beginnings which they offered us a month ago, you could have available now 3 years worth of points with which to make a reservation at the 11 mo window for May 04. Let's say you buy 100 points, you'd actually have 300 points to work with. I just made an April '04 reservation with such a scenario for a 426 point reservation and I only own 200 points at Boardwalk.

At the 7th month window you could make a reservation and use points from either allotment if you buy points at BWV and BCV, but std views are sometimes hard to get and 2BR's are hard to get as well. It may be that you'll be able to get 1BR at either resort in the 7th month range, but it is best to buy in the one place where you want to stay so you can take advantage of the 11mo window and get what you want.

I apologize if I made it sound complicated by suggesting that one could own at both resorts. We obviously bought at BWV first and just now added the second resort. We want the flexibility to stay in a 2BR at either resort and to get the room we want the first time without having to use the waitlist. We had to wait 5 years to afford the new points and we managed fine in a 1BR or hotel room until then.

Captain Midnight...this question comes up so often you might want to ask Doc if you could put it into the FAQ list at the top of this board (minus the second to last paragraph, of course)! :p :p :p

And for the record, my family "fell in love" with WL during our first visit in 1998. We came back to WL in 2000, but had no interest in that "construction stuff" going on next door!

Sometime during 2001 we figured out that we should look into DVC, and we bought where we always know we'll feel at home. :)

Reading this thread broght back such memories for me. I fell in love with BWV in 1998 when my family booked a trip at thanksgiving. We stayed in two studios overlooking the boardwalk. At first I was angry because I had paid for a one bedroom and was looking forward to the jacuzzi tub. Little did I realize that overlooking the boardwalk in two studios was more than a fair deal but I wasn;t a member then. The beautiful lighting in the entrance as well as the gingerbread christmas decorations in the lobby complete with miniature amusement rides was so awesome that it made me feel like this place was beyond just beautiful it smelled of home or a home I wished I lived in year round. Being able to sit on the balcony(before the advent of the birds LOL) and watch my son jog around the lake while I drank my coffee was so pleasant. I didn't even know about DVC then or I would have bought right then and there.

When I got home I memtioned to a friend about the Boardwalk and how I loved it. They put me in touch with Celeste and today I am the proud owner of 600 BWV points. I still fall in love with the lobby every time we go home. Last trip I stopped at the BCV to see if I should add on there too but though they are probably a bit nicer in decor being new and furnishings being a tad more upscale, it didn't call out to me in the same way so Go WHERE YOU get HOME FEELING and visit the rest as a change of pace.
