We are looking to book a stay in a 1 bedroom unit and are trying to compare the following. Beach Club, Boardwalk Standard & Boardwalk Preferred.

Can anyone offer comment? Is the Boardwalk Preferred a signficantly better option? What makes it preferred?

Thanks

The difference at the BW is the front drive. When the BWV were built, they modified the point structure to give the villas along the front drive a lower point requirement. They comprise about 20% of the villas. Everything else is preferred. Preferred is broken into two booking categories - BW view and pool/garden. BW view is about 20% and pool/garden is the remaining. Standard and BW view are the most requested views because they either require fewer points (standard) or they have a direct view of the BW. Preferred is not really "preferred" just not standard.

BCV has no views. These villas were built on the former CM parking lot behind the BC. So no types of views like at the BW. No real views to request. No differences in points for similarly configured villas.

BWV has one bank of elevators. So the corridors tend to be long. BCV has two elevator banks, so the corridors aren't quite as long to get to the elevator.

BCV is closer to Epcot, but further from the boat dock for the Friendship boats. Some BCV villas have a view of Illuminations, but there is no view to request for that. You can try to get "woods" view and hope for the best, but you might just get the woods and no Illuminations.

I prefer BCV because it tends to be quieter. BWV is just too "hoppin' " for me. Because we always have a car, we prefer BCV because of the closer self parking right next to the villas. You may have a long hike from your car at the BWV, especially during busy times at Epcot. Lots of non-resort guests will try to park at the BW to avoid the parking fee at Epcot. So you arrive and you have to park across the street or valet park.

We also like to run over to Epcot around 8:50 to watch Illuminations, then head right back to the BCV by 9:25. It's a bit longer to BWV, but not really that bad.

And I don't like clowns - so Luna Park pool is not my favorite. But then, I dont' really like Stormalong Bay that much either. Deep areas with a strong current. I do like the Dunes Cove pool at the BCV, though. Quiet, nice to sit out there.

The units are similar size and setup. The dining area a little better at BCV but the 1 BR dedicated units are more functional overall at BWV. Overall, 2 peas in a pod from a room standpoint for 1 BR and very similar in many ways from a resort standpoint.
