Compare Wyndham Palms with Westgate Vacation Villas?

Both are listed as 4* on the hotelkingdom web site.

On another thread there have been many very good comments about the Wyndham Palms Resort CC. The Westgate Vacation Villas(3*) and the Wyndham Palms are located close to each other. I haven't seen a comparison and maybe it could help others as well.

Do not do the timeshare tour. They is a very bad experince. I would stay away from any Westgate property. I would with Wyndham Palms Resort CC. I would not do the timeshare tour with that one wither. I have read good reivews about Wyndham Palms Resort CC.

I was not going to do a timeshare tour at either place.
Please tell me why you would stay away from any Westgate property? Is it because the front desk personnel are not friendly?
Is it because the property is not well maintained? Is it because it is not a good property and not well landscaped?

This is all JMHO, so take it with a grain of salt.

There are too many complaints about poor customer service and poorly maintained rooms at the Westgate resorts for me to consider them deserving of 4*. They are very inconsistent. You could end up with a beautiful room (as we did at the W.V.V. years ago) or you could end up in a dumpy room.

Besides this, the sales staff are sharks... they've been known to tell people that they MUST attend a "maintenance survey" or risk being charged for anything that is found wrong with the unit, as if all the years of wear-and-tear are the new guests' fault. But that survey turns out to be a sales pitch.

The landscaping at all the Westgates is okay but nothing special. The buildings are rather close together, especially at the Lakes, so these places give the impression of a decent apartment complex. Not as much of a "resort" feel to them. Lots of pavement.

The Palms is nicer, newer, more of a resort. If the prices are comparable, go with that one. HTH.
