Compare EE drops to other rides

I've read on the Community Board that someone compared EE to Big Thunder only faster and it goes backwards like Norway.

I love Big Thunder, and have no problems riding Norway, my favorite thing in all of WDW is ToT.

But, I can't do downward slopes (hills) -- not even Splash Mountain.
I've been in line for RnR twice but the ride closed for technical reasons both times before I got on. I've been told there are no slopes on RnR.

I saw EE in December and it looks scary to me.

What do you think about the drop?

The drop on EE is 80 ft...so it's not exactly what you would call a "moderate" drop. Although the drop curves at the base near the ground, the drop is a significant portion of the ride (and the thrill!) As for the backwards part, it lasts for about 3 seconds on Malestrom and about 10 seconds on EE. Also, the backwards part on EE is in complete darkness, while on Malestrom it is slow and in light.

In comparison to other rides...
Splash Mountain - 54 ft
Jurassic Park (Universal Studios) - 82 ft

If you can't handle SM at all, then I don't feel you would fare well on EE

Thanks for the info. I don't like drops. I will not ride ToT again. Big Thunder is about as wild as I can get.

I don't like the drops at all either. But the one at Expedition:Everest is, I thought, milder than at Splash Mountain. Lasts longer but it's not as intense. Yes, it looks bad. I've watched that thing for the past three years and vowed I'd have to be drugged up to get on it. Rode it last weekend with a fear of heights and a dislike of roller coasters. I never even screamed. I'd put my seven year old granddaughter on here if she is above the 44" requirement. It really is a really nicely done roller coaster. Everything I hate about coasters was not an issue - heights and drops. It looks intense but I thought it was like a big old cuddly Yeti.

In EPCOT's World Showcase, Norway has a boat ride called The Malestrom.

We also aren't big fans of huge drops but we didn't mind the one at EE. We thought it went by quite quickly and had a great time.
