Compare Dueling Dragons to Hulk?

On our last trip in July, I told DS I would go on DD with him one time. Of course, he loved it and we ended up riding it five or six times. (I kept my eyes closed most of the time.) But he is a real dare devil, my boy.

Now we're planning our Christmas trip. My hope is that my nephew will be able to go so that I won't get roller coaster ride-along duty. (DS is just 10; Nephew is 15.) But, if DN can't go, I'll be the roller coaster buddy again. Except NOW the boy wants to try Hulk.

So, help me out, guys. Will Hulk scramble my brains? I've been on RnR at MGM and, of course, DD. I will be honest with you, though, and tell you that Dueling Dragons taxed me. I survived it only by holding on tightly and closing my eyes each time I did it. (Ice isn't so bad, but Fire about did me in.)

What's your opinion?

Julie

We just got back, and I can tell you that the Hulk is not as intense as Duelling Dragons (or as much fun, but that's my opinion). I did find it less smooth, and my face bounced between the shoulder harness bars a bit, but it was still fun, and with a good launch. Mind you, hands down, the dragons were my favourites. Next time we go, we may reserve a day just to do Dragons (and the Alchemy bar).

However, you want info on the Hulk. The first acceleration is a little more gradual than Rock'n'Roller Coaster, but it's fun that the acceleration doesn't immediately end in a drop. It's a good ride, just not the best. Certainly, if you've done Fire and Ice, you shouldn't have any problems with the Hulk.

I think the Hulk is a little rough and have found that if I hold my head out a little (instead of back against the headrest) it doesn't bounce my head quite as much. I love DD, the Hulk is a little boring after the launch IMO, but still fun.

I agree I first did the Hulk the other day and then the DD. I felt DD was much more intense.
:cool1:

I get nauseaus on DD. I have told my ds that I won't go on it anymore. However I love Hulk and I don't feel sick. I think DD does more twirling than Hulk. Don't read anymore if you don't want a spoiler. I love Hulk because towards the end of the ride, you feel it is the end because it starts to slow down but then it speeds up again and you go on a little more.

According to my DH and two DN's (14 and 10), hulk is a walk in the park compared to Fire and Ice. They all came off the Hulk laughing, they were laughing the whole time they were on it (first time riding). However after riding Fire, DH couldn't take it anymore and so let DN's ride Ice alone. Both agreed that Fire is much more intense but both are "scarier" than Hulk.

i definetly think that if u can do dueling dragons, you can do the hulk. that doesnt mean that dd is better than the hulk. i LOVE the launch. just shooting off into the florida sun is amazing. but i also love the near misses on dd. either way, have a great time!

My husband says you're all just trying to trick me into getting onto Hulk, but my son is delighted. "Mom, can we ride Hulk more than once?" :rotfl:

Thanks!

Julie

Hulk is more intense than DD. It has an amazing launch & 0-G roll. But after that, it isn't nearly as good as DD. DD is the better ride because it keeps going after the Hulk burns out.
Hulk is a great coaster, and burns out sounds kinda bad, so that's no really the right word. Hulk shouldn't be too scary for you.

I am really sorry to say this, but in my opinion the Hulk is the wost in Florida 'in the sense it's rubbish' I know a lot of you will love it but I found it a bit boring and did feel dizzy when I got off. DD is amazing as is teh Kraken and some of the coasters at Busch. The Hulk you might actually enjoy though.
