Companion Pool Poll -- OKW Only

All our polls are basically just for fun so I thought maybe we should add one that looks just at OKW owners and their reaction to the slide announcement. So, please let just the OKW owners vote on this one. I'll include an option -- Non-Voter -- that will let everyone to get in on the results.

My answer is "I like the pools as they are, but I know my kids will be very happy to get a slide at OKW."

My answer is... I really don't care one way or the other, but if the slide draws kids AWAY from the quiet pools and as a result the quiet pools become quieter, then I am all for it.

Thanks, Pam. I can actually vote on this one. I don't REALLY care about the slide or no slide unless it effects dues in a big way.
To keep other from speculating...I voted that I would not have voted for it, but I'll accept it.

Love the idea! Not only will it make my family and any future guests very happy, it makes my OKW points more valuable. In case I ever have to sell, that is, which I'm not contemplating. DH loves OKW, now DD will too. Diana

OK I'm not an OKW owner but have stayed there for the last 3 years in a row as it is my DH's & DD's favorite resort. I have to say the report of the slide did make me extremely happy at first but now I consider it to be bittersweet as it will make OKW difficult to get into @ the 7 month window.

MAC3 your comments are great. I may not have posted clearly. It would be nice if non-OKW folks didn't vote in the poll (except the last option) but comments from everywhere are always valuable input. I didn't mean only OKW members could post.

One good thing from this is we will get much needed life guards to control guest behavior. The pools will be for swimming which is something I will be looking forward to.

and I voted that I would not have voted for the slide but I will accept it. Not because of increased dues but because when we toured OKW in Sept. I found it to not to be lacking in any area.

So much so that I immediately placed myself on the waitlist to purchase there.

To me it's like putting a Wal-Mart in a historic part of town. Why with all the Resorts, waterparks, and other activities at WDW would people think that a slide could make or break this resort?

I not only think this is an end of pool hopping but the beginning of the DVC resorts being spun off into individual entities. That's why they are doing it without member input. This is a grand scheme and will not end with pool hopping privileges.

My OKW points were add ons and we also own at BCV and SSR all for separate reasons. I liked the differences in the Resorts and the fact that depending on which one we stayed at we would have a difference experience, but still be in our favorite place. That's why I purchased at DVC as opposed to several different timeshares.

I voted the non-owner option, but since I have never stayed anywhere else but OKW, I think my kids will be excited about the slide. I personally love OKW.

Pam, next to the Vote bottom on the bottom of the poll, there are words that say "View Results". You can just click on those words to view the poll results without voting in the poll. I wasn't sure if you relalized that or not?

I don't know about you, but I've never seen a WDW lifeguard control much of anything. At HHI, for instance, people were playing catch with a football in the pool. The pool's not that big there, and plenty of people got bonked by the ball or run over. The lifeguards did nada. I don't believe that controlling behavior is part of their job description.

If you chose that button, each and every time you come back to the thread, you have to hit the button again, if you have a "no-vote" catagory, you alleviate that. The downside is that the percentages are thrown off.

Pam I did vote the last option. That I am interested in the outcome. Now I am somewhat down about the slide now because of the demand that it will bring.

Think about it....

A disney resort with the ability to park outside your condo.
Larger roomsw/ huge patios
Now a slide on the pool.

Humm, I bet right off it becomes much harder to get than a standard view @ BWV. Just my opinion.

I think there's a much different perspective now than the older poll before SAB pool hopping was eliminated. That's a huge change for pool lovers that has been highly debated here.

Very happy with OKW as it was. Not really concerned with its affect on the resort or the cost of maintaining and guarding the slide.
