I am trying Name Your Price right now on Priceline and it didn't accept my offer for a mid-size car. I tried to go up to a standard, but it was suggesting way too much to save any money. I think I would have to wait 24 hours before resubmitting a new price, so I was thinking about trying to go down on the car size.

Does anyone have some experience w/ a compact car? It isn't the smallest (that would be economy) and it is described as a Ford Focus or similar. We won't be in the car a great amount of time. The most would be the drive from the St. Pete airport to Orlando and then back. The rest of the time it would just be to get to and from the parks (we will be staying 1 mile away for a few days and then at CBR) and we might drive around Kissimmee 1 day. We won't have a lot of luggage due to flying, I really feel like we could fit it all in the trunk. Oh, there will be DH and I, our 13 yr old DD and 8 yr old DS. DD is about 5'6", but I'm thinking she might have to suffer a bit.

I tend to get impatient and would like to try to get something today. Is it worth it to wait and try for the mid-size tomorrow, or would it not make much difference w/ the compact?

Thanks for any help!!:)

It really depends on how much luggage you have. You 4 will all fit in the car just fine (I own a Chevy Cobalt and my 6'1" DH can fit in the backseat - not super comfortably, but he fits), but the trunk will only hold 4-5 pieces of luggage (and that's if you're *really* good at shoving it in there). We can usually just barely jam the luggage for the two of us into the car, and we bring 2x 26", 1x 22", Tote, & Laptop (and sometimes a backpack, too).

Thanks, linzbear.

I really want the mid-size, just for the extra room and a bit more security (in case we get in a wreck--just a fear I have, LOL!), but I don't know if I want to spend 200.00 more for it.

I might try to stop by a car dealership and take a look at the cars myself.

When I go back and read this, I am thinking that it should be a no brainer, go for the 200.00 savings, but I am still hesitant.:confused3

I think the luggage will be o.k. We will have 2 bigger suitcases, but they are not bulky, a medium duffel and a small duffel. We will also have DH's CPAP machine, but that could always go in the car instead of trunk, if necessary.

Take the two suitcases to a car dealer and see if the fit in the trunk. Tell them you're planning on renting the car on vacation and are considering purchasing the car if you like it.
