I need your help. I don't want to have to call xh for help with this. I put my card into the card reader and plugged it into the computer. Now that I want to remove it, it is saying it is unsafe to do so, try back later. I tried again hours later, the red light is still on, and it still says it is unsafe. XH told me to never remove it when the red light was on!

Assuming your using windows XP.... Down by the time in the bottom right There is an icon with a little green arrow over the top... .double click on that. Then highlight the camera's memory card you might have to hit details to see which one that is. Then end the process.

Something is hung up.

Thanks, I tried that. It says "The device"generic volume" can not be stopped right now. Try again later."

Just reboot, or easier yet, shut the PC down. Remove the card. Restart the PC.

The act of shutting down will force whatever is accessing the card to cleanly stop. If you reboot, you should be able to remove it cleanly.

Or, if you've already removed the photos from the card and there's nothing left on it, just yank it out, toss it in your camera, and format it. :) No harm done. The danger of removing it when it's being accessed is that the file system may be corrupted or you may get lost clusters on there - all things that are cleared by a format.

Groucho- Thanks so much. I restarted the computer and was able to remove it. Why didn't I think of that? That's how I usually fix things-by turning them off and then back on!
Thanks again!
