Community Leader Costume

Recently, I have been discussing with many Community Leaders, that it wouldn't be bad for VMK to create an exclusive CL outfit. This costume, will be used mainly to prevent any kind of misunderstanding in between players and leaders.
Since we have seen that many complain because we might sometimes be afk and not answer or such things, setting up an exclusive costume so for us to wear when we are available to answer questions wouldn't be bad. Apart from avoiding people to get angry at some leaders, this will make things faster and easier, you just look for people wearing the special costume, if they don't have it, you go on, if they do have it, you stop and ask.
What do you need to do to make from this idea a big addition to VMK?
Either you are a CL or not, it wouldn't be bad if you could send in this suggestion to VMK using the Contact Us button. As more suggestions about the same topic VMK has, the more chances of adding this to the game we will have.

Just to add some more info, this costume will pop up in your inventory after you get your title, it won't be tradeable(sp?) and if you ever get your title removed, it will just leave from your inventory.

So as to reach more and more people, I'd like you to reply to this thread telling me about your thoughts, including pros and cons.

Thank you,

Until CL_'s get some sort of training from VMK, so we as players can actually expect some level of service from them, I don't see what the big deal is. Anyone can be helpful whether they are a CL or not. A special uniform would only serve to widen the gap between CL's and regular players and honestly, CL's are just regular players that are around VMK a lot more than the rest of us. There is nothing inherent in being a CL that makes them more trustworthy or honest or worthy of my respect. However if there was ever CL training that they were required to go to and perhaps some 'spot checks' by staff in disguise to see if they can answer basic questions and trade fairly and such, then I might say "let's give CL's something special". But in my opinion they have no specific duties and do not deserve special clothing which will set them apart from regular players.

CL-only costumes would encourage more people to apply for the wrong reasons, I think.

What CL's should really be shooting for - is the ability to address a CL without adding the "CL_" in front. It drives me nuts to type out longer names and sometimes I am too lazy to say hello back to a friend, ha.

Yeah that is annoying

Cool idea, but I like to mix up what I wear and having a "uniform" would be kind of annoying. LOL. I guess I would be "unable to answer questions" all the time LOL and I wouldn't want that. But I like the idea, it would be easier and more helpful for some of the other players, but I don't know how realistic it is. As for the post about "people wanting to be a cl for the wrong reasons..." I think it would cause people to give up the cl statis considering they are now obligated to wear a specific "uniform". ANYWAY... I love hearing ideas on how to improve vmk considering half of staff don't know what it means to learn from mistakes LOL and vmk is kind of at a stand still right now LOL.

I'm not in favor of a special CL costume. I do think it would encourage some players to apply just to get the special clothes, and I also think it would be annoying to have to wear it, just to show that I'm ready to answer questions. A CL is a regular player who has simply stepped up to say," I've played the game a lot and if you need help I'm willing to try and help you". As a CL the main thing I would like to see from staff right now is more communication. It would be very easy for them to send us a newsletter in our email even once a month. They have all of our email addy's and could just put it in a database for a newsletter, super easy to do. This might help us to be more helpful in the game.
As a side note, if you aren't available in the game (afk or whatever) just jump on over to jungle cruise and let it cruise on its own, that way you are not showing in a room. If you are away for extended time, you might think about just logging off? :earboy2:

This is dead on right! If CL's get a special costume than everyone will apply to be a CL for the wrong reason.

Until there is some type of real screening for Community Leaders I don't think that this should happen. Right now anyone can be a CL if they have not been banned and can answer a few really easy questions, or they could until they put a freeze on accepting new ones. It has never meant a thing to me.

I see Community Leaders all the time saying things they should not. I see a few swelled up with power correcting people in wrong ways. I see them being trade sharks and trying to trade unfairly. Most of all I see them sitting in rooms not answering questions which is what I thought they were supposed to do. This is not all of them but maybe half.

So I think that you all should be pushing for more structure for what being a CL means rather than an outfit to wear.

Isn't the CL_ in the front of the name and the CL badge/pin supposed to help identify who is a CL?

I think if you need to be away or aren't able to help, either log off or change your signature to read "Sorry, I'm away from keyboard. Can't help right now."

That would probably take just as long as changing into a special costume.

Also, it would get very confusing. VMK would have to change the Community page section for "What are Community Leaders?" to Community Leader names begin with "CL_" and they all wear the CL badge: but they will only help if they are wearing the special costume...maybe. :rotfl:

Besides that, a special costume would require more programming to prevent that costume from being traded to someone who isn't a CL, and I'd rather they put more programming time into getting Tomorrowland and Frontierland done. :)

Well, actually, it's not that easy to make people understand we are busy and can't help. People start yelling at us when we are afk, they start speaking very bad of us for not being available at that time and some even report for those cases(although staff just ignores that).

I am a CL and totally disagree.

Number one reason although we are CL we are just players and just players is what we should stay.

Some people already have the idea that CL's are on an elevated status in VMK and a special outfit would do nothing more than increase that misconception.

I hope that VMK has the common sense to just pass on this idea but if the past is any indication of what VMK will do they will probably jump on it. :(

Sorry, Karo. I don't like the "uniform" idea much either. I still think CL's should have designated areas and times to be available to anyone with questions, however. I also think that when we are in guest rooms, we should be treated as any other player and basically left alone. Don't see that happening any time soon, though. :rotfl:
