yes....although they haven't required us to "check out" like with DVDs.
it works well, as i don't always finish a book, and can bring it back next time.
btw, they also take donated books. i often bring a few extra with us, and leave them for others to enjoy

The "book exchange" at the BWV Community hall seems to have gotten smaller. It is more of a "take one; leave one", i.e. exchange your no longer needed book/paperback for one on the shelf. I'll usually buy a few used paperbacks at my local library (5 for $1) and do the "leave/take" thing. I think the selection has gotten smaller because of more people using Kindles, etc. I do love my kindle fire, but still prefer the feel of a book when poolside. Oh, there are no "check out" rules either. You can go in and take a book....but should return it upon leaving. We used to do htis type of book exchange in my office. Worked out really well.
