Communicating Honeymoon to WDW?

Hi,

My wife and I have our honeymoon at WDW booked for mid November. I've been reading here on the forum and in the unofficial WDW guide that Disney can give out special occasion buttons and/or mouse ears to wear, which might lead to some fun surprises at the parks for honeymooners.

My question is, how do we let WDW know beforehand that it's our honeymoon? We're staying at a cabin at Fort Wilderness. it seems like people used to do this through the check-in system at the my Disney reservation site. But that site doesn't work for me. I completed the online check-in at disneyworld.disney.go.com/trip/online-check-in/resort-reservation/ but I didn't see a place to put in special occasion details.

Should I just call? Or has Disney done away with the newlywed buttons?

They still have newlywed buttons. I think you can call the resort, but if anything, go to guest services or tell your hotel people when you go to the hotel that you're on your honeymoon. They'll give you buttons!

if you made the reservation, there is some phone number somewhere you can call so you could call them and let the call center know you are celebrating a honeymoon but you can also say that when you check in. there is somewhere on the website when you first make a reservation that asks you “what are you celebrating”, but as i recall it’s easy to miss and i don’t think you can “get back to it” online? anyway, you will be given buttons upon arrival when you say that’s what you are doing and/or just ask for honeymoon buttons (that’s what i would do!).

it’s unlikely they would just give you the wedding ears, but i suppose that is possible? i would plan to pick some up after you arrive, they are available at about any location that they have ear hats. some people like to make or buy tshirts as well. if you make any other reservations for dining etc.. on your trip, be sure to note it right then that you are celebrating!

if i were staying in a cabin, i might also try to come up with some fun, easy to do and easy to travel with (and that won’t hurt the room finishes) decorations for your door/windows, campground area - might be fun!:thumbsup2

You can call the reservation line to have it noted on your reservation, and ask for the happily ever after buttons when you check in. They don't give out ear hats, but they do sell them at every park and resort gift shop.

Mention it at your ADRs if you don't wear the buttons.

We honeymooned on DCL and at WDW after our wedding in WDW. We wore the ears only a handful of times, but we did wear the buttons. We got a ton of congratulations from CMs, an some sprinkles of pixie dust which was really nice, but those things are entirely up to the CMs and it really depends on who you encounter along the way. You can't really count on getting anything, so if there's something you want to do special, you might want to consider pre-planning that (like an in room celebration or something).
