Commercial Sellers of DVC Points

Right! And How many thousands can we each own at each resort in the POS! We are not talking about 250 points here. Disney approved for each of us to own 2000 at a resort IF we so desire and have the money or credit to do so! And now they are saying No more than 20 reservations in a year? I am not for a Ebayer tying up all the Prime weeks but there is something wrong with this. :tink:

Just want to add that I do not have this amount of points, I think that if someone was mislead into buying them, they were horribly mislead!!!!

They are not saying you can't make 20 or more reservations in a year from what has been reported.

As long as your name is on the reservation, they don't care how many resrevations you make. It's just the reservation without your name on them that they are concerned with.

My friend's letter did not say anything about being okay if the ressies were all in his name. It simply stated that on his 21st reservation, his ressies were subject to being cancelled.

You know I wouldn't give Disney too much credit for thinking things through. After all we are talking about a beauracracy (sp?). You post the rules and maybe deal with the fall out later. I have a problem right now with Interval International where they've changed the rules dealing with my ability to look to see if I can trade my week(s) in a given time frame. The change is major and the first responses I've gotten from them via e-mail have been non-responsive. It's going to take a lot of complaining on my part and probably on the part of others to get it changed.

This just looks like a poorly designed business rule to me.

Actually I would give DVC a lot of credit for thinking things through. However what we all forget when we discuss these situations here, is we get one side of the story. That does have a way of skewing the perception of what is going on.

Then I'm in big trouble because I'm about to make our 19th reservation since we became members. We've used them all. I'm sure the DVCers who have been members since 1991 aren't getting letters and many of them have surpassed 20 reservations since they joined.

Not flaming Beca, but I find this hard to believe and unless we can see the exact wording I have serious doubts about this "subject to being cancelled" wording. Nothing against you Beca but words do have meaning and taking them out of context is way too easy in today's society.

Y-ASK

We have made over 75 DVC reservations since 1993. We have never rented, but have given trips to my office staff on several occasions - amounting to over 20 of those reservations. None of those 20 reservations were made in my name.

We have not yet received the "letter" and I do not expect one. If I do receive one, I will contact the sender and demand an explanation - but again, I do not expect to receive the "letter".

It is obvious to me that DVC has some threshhold they use to determine what constitutes a "pattern of rental activity". Clearly it is something more than the raw number of reservations made, the dates of the reservations or the names on the reservations.

I also expect that most who receive the "letter" will still have nothing to worry about - as they have done nothing contrary to the spirit and intent of the DVC policies. I would think that a couple of those who have reported their experiences here are among that group.

I also expect that a few who have received the "letter" should be afraid ... very afraid ... and may find the need to defend themselves or lose some ability to use their membership.

Regardless, it would appear that there is a lot more being considered than numbers, dates or names. I don't anticipate any declaration from DVC about what the threshholds may actually be.

It will be interesting to see what transpires over time.

Stay Tuned! :)

Disney should not have sold a excess number of points to families if they have now decided to tie our hands with the points.
EXCESS points???? What is excess to you or anyone else might be exactly what another person needs for their WDW time in a given year. It is up to the buyer to decide what the comfortable number is for them to own. I'm quite sure the reason Disney put a cap on 2000 points per resort and 5000 total per ownership was to prevent folks from making too much of a business from it. Frankly, if I could afford 5000 points and the accompanying dues, I'd be spending the cold months at OKW instead of Minnesota!

It's 20 per year.
