Commercial Mini-Rant

I feel bad for the people that fall for the trap because they just don't read it that well. Most people just listen to what they say. Anyways, Let me explain.

This morning I was at my computer catching up on some work. I decided to take a mini-break and headed to the T.V. Anyways their was a commercial for this Vacuum. It went something like this

"Are you tired of those old vacumm cleaners? Do you need something that can work with you? Now you can with the new -name of thing- (I wasn't really paying attention) We will also throw in a free mini-vacumm that can go anywhere. (They added a few more cheesy things, You know Order now and blah blah blah)"

So they get to the blue screen where all the info is. The price says 19.99 and on top of it in really small print it says 6 small payments of and then the big 19.99. I feel so bad for the people that really don't read any of it. At the time I'm thinking Who the Heck would buy those things for that much money. That's about $120.00 and during the commercial it says A value of 69.99.

How stupid but thats just me. What do you think though?

I suppose there are levels of naivete on which people would see a vacuum and an amount of $20 and think that that's the price for the vacuum. I definitely feel bad for such people; it's a hard road from there to where you realize how the world works. However, I think there really are so very few people like that. Most people instinctively know that if a deal is "too good to be true" then it isn't true. They may hem and haw about the discontinuity but in reality they're not going to be really "surprised" that a vacuum actually costs more than $20.

I caught one the other day I had to giggle at. It was a wrinkle-reducer serum of some kind. It was showing side by side before and afters. The before was awful, of course, and the after looked astonishing. The woman got a new face!! Then you look in the upper righthand corner, and in very small print it says: under light makeup. I busted out laughing at that one!!
