I never read or hear anything good or bad about vwl. What does anyone think about the rooms? My wife is very interested in purchasing resale at vwl, we have stayed at wl and liked the resort but are the rooms in villas nice? I never really see any requests for trades or reservations for vwl and I am wondering why? Has anyone ever had trouble booking rooms there? Thank you.

They are very nice. Decor is woodsy and dark. We'll be there for Thanksgiving this year. VWL is just one of our homes. We bought because we loved Yellowstone and this was the closest thing we could get to Yellowstone other than Yellowstone.

VWL is the smallest DVC resort, so there aren't as many points around. Maybe that's why you don't hear so much about it.

We had a mini-DIS meet last January in the Iron Spike Room, where there are a few larger scale train models. Walt Disney was a big train fan, so this is a tribute to him. The Iron Spike Room is a great place to sit and play a board game, cards or read a book. The lobby at VWL is a rotunda, that is open to the upper floors. They put a Christmas tree in this lobby during the holidays that is just beautiful. There are some wood carvings in the lobby, too, plus a few hidden Mickey's.

We stayed at VWL a couple of weeks ago, and loved it! The resort is so peaceful, especially after a long crazy day at the parks.

I really like the theming of the rooms, and didn't find them as dark as I thought I would. But then we kept the curtains open the whole time, benefit of overlooking the woods!

I enjoyed taking the boats to the Magic Kingdom, too.

My family always went camping for summer holidays, so being surrounded by pine trees felt right, and the music that greets you when you come into the building always made me smile.

Add me to the Wilderness Lodge Lovers club. Great place. I'll have a hard time convincing myself to try the other resorts.

We just returned from a stay in a two bedroom. It was a beautiful room. We were very happy with it. We were on the 5th floor overlooking the trees and water. The resort is so quiet. I sat on the balcony and drank it all in. We love the Lodge and the Villas.

We will be trying the Wilderness Lodge for the first time in March 2007. We had dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe on our last trip and we had a ball - kids and adults alike. We also loved the look of the resort lobby. The biggest selling points of this resort, though, were the shuttles to MK and to the Contemporary resort (which puts you on the monorail route) and the "Cub's Den" day care. My husband and I would like to enjoy a nice evening out together and having a day care on-site at the hotel will make things much easier for us.

We just returned from our first DVC trip in a 2br @ VWL. I cannot gush enough about this resort.

The staff was so friendly, from the valet to the workers at Roaring Forks.

The lobby is amazing, and the pool area and grounds are so relaxing. My kids loved playing at the beach area...and watching the Electrical Water Pagent from the beach each night was such a treat. You could even see some of the higher fireworks from the Magic Kingdom there.

If you are anything like me I think you will love VWL!

It is our home resort, and were there last week in a one bedroom. We picked it for it's decor, and themeing, and landscaping. The Mercantile has a much larger range of grocery items than some of the other DVC resorts. And you can take a nature trail walk/hike over to Fort Wilderness which has even more grocery stock for the campers there. We did that, and took the boat back to VWL.

You can go HERE and take the virtual tour of the resort and the rooms.

sssh, it's a secret;) , good place to hide from the crowds @ the end of the day in the parks, absolutely relaxing experience.

DH's fav (mine would be the CRV but, that's another story).

As has been pointed out, VWL is the smallest of the DVC resorts at WDW, which accounts in part for the lack of threads about it. It also has very strong theming that people either tend to like a lot or not care for much. We would be in the "like it a lot" category, to say the least. ;)

If you really liked WL, then VWL is pretty much an extension of that same theming with the added benefit of better rooms, especially once you get up to the 1BR and larger.

Good luck on your decision! :)

Ahhh. Wilderness Lodge. "Our beloved Wilderness Lodge" (hi Granny  )

Put me on the list of loving it there. I think the reason we love it so much is because it is conducive to relaxation. We go there, stare at the beautiful lobby for a minute. Check in and sit back and say Ahhhhhh. We also feel that warmer weather at VWL is just a little more comfy. Lots of dark green, lots of trees, lots of shade. Some of the other resorts are just too sunny. Also, in winter, it just seems warmer there. Fireplaces everywhere. Don't get me started with Christmas at VWL.

The reason that you don't hear much about VWL?? Because it is:

VWL. The quiet resort. :cloud9:

I own a small contract at VWL and stood there for the first time in January. I found it to be very relaxing and quiet in the villas part. I almost felt like I was on vacation someplace else, not WDW. I enjoyed the rustic outdoors feel. :)

Wow, we have a slogan for VWL now? :thumbsup2

(Hi Muushka  )

Not only is the resort quiet...so are the owners! :ssst:

:lmao:

here are some more pictures....

even the worst room (and I have had it) - is GREAT!!! :cool1:

We are in process of DVC at VWL...I am so excited! We have never stepped one foot on the property itself, but one of my closest friends will not stay anywhere else! Disney has never disappointed. :mickeyjum

You know what though? I wish they had someone to come out and clean the bird droppings off the lounge chairs by the pool. We stayed there for the first time in October. Every time we went to get a chair, we had to clean it off first. Evidently it is a problem.

I have not had a problem there (yet!!), but while we are on the subject....

Once while at OKW on a first floor, the people above us had children, who were encouraged to feed the birds--off of our patio!! They threw the bread off of their balcony, onto our patio. Nice, huh? :confused3

Oops, just re-read your post. You were talking pool!

I was suddenly sent back to OKW and the trauma we suffered!! :furious:

Sorry....carry on..... popcorn::

Uh-oh.....hope that wasn't us ! Our favorite place to stay is OKW and feeding the wildlife there is one of our fav things to do :rotfl:
That being said, VWL/WL is our second fav place to stay. We were just there earlier this month. Here's a couple pics :
