Can anyone tell me why florida residents get all the good discounts at disney and universal(nothing against florida residents just wondering why) . It would be nice for them to do some good discounts for other states because thats where they get some of there money from. Sorry that I am venting but other states do like to save money too. Sorry

People who come from a long distance are more willing to pay the high admission prices because it is a "special event" -- their vacation. On top of that, they'll visit the park just for a day or two.

Folks who live within driving distance COULD visit much more frequently, but will balk at having to pay $50 every time they do.

So the parks figured out it was a smart idea to encourage nearby residents to visit more often. After all, they do spend money in the parks for meals and drinks and gifts. Plus, they can help fill the parks during the slow seasons when there are fewer tourists. That's why most Florida Resident Specials are good only during the slower times of the year.

Hope this helps explain it a bit. Maybe it'll encourage you to move to Orlando. ;)
