So my deadline to pay for my Disney package is mid-October. I am short a few hundred dollars....if I delete the dining plan from my package can I add it back later? This will give me time to save up again.

I believe that I read on the dining plan thread under the resteraunt section here that you can add the DP up to 72 hrs before. (there was some debatebetween 48 and 72, but I would bet on 72 just to be on the safe side) I know how you feel though, it taked us 2-3 years to save for Disney, But there are things I "save" for that I could do cheaper like a moderate or deluxe resort instead of value, or 7-8 days instead of 5-6, but I like to take my time in the parks and have lots of "down" time too!!! We have a 5 gallon water jug that we throw all of our "change" into and when I say change, I don't just mean the coins, 1's and 5's go in there too, and an occasional larger bill. When I clip coupons I take that money I saved on my reciept and throw it in too. Any money found in the laundry is fair game, including the $50 I found after doing my husbands work clothes :rotfl: last time we went, we had filled 2- 5 gallon jugs this way, and had almost $4000.00:scared1: I was able to buy myself a new camera before we went too. Good luck with the savings and have fun on your trip!!!

If you are purchasing the dining plan, you only need to buy 1-day tickets for your package. If it's FREE dining, you only need to buy 2-day tickets. Did you make your reservation with tickets for your entire stay? If so, you could cut back to just the 1- or 2-day minimum tickets, and that will save you a number of hundred$. Then, you can upgrade your tickets to the actual days needed once you arrive at WDW, right at check-in, if desired.

can you just buy the cheapest ticket and upgrade when you get there

:thumbsup2 Downgrade your tickets to the minimum number of days required for the package and drop hopping and water parks if you have them. You can upgrade your tickets once you get there.

Make any downgrades before the 45 day mark to avoid being charged a change fee.

Thanks for the tips! I used my bounceback offer for 40% off so don't want to lose the discount but I can buy some time by dropping the meal plan and tickets down... thanks!

I did this one year. I dropped the dining plan and went down to a 1 day ticket and that allowed me to pay off the trip so I didn't default and lose my ressie. Then I upgraded to the multi-day ticket and dining plan a few weeks later :thumbsup2

I too am coming up short. Need a new condensor for our AC. it will take most of my money that is saved for disney. I will have the money 2 weeks after I need to pay. We have free dining so I might drop it down to the minium tickets and then upgrade when we get to WDW. thanks for the tip. I dont want to cancel as then we would lose the money we have already paid for airfare.

I was going to ask the same question, if you have a hopper switch to base and then ONLY upgrade if you need it. You might can get by without the hopper. Also, when is your trip and when did you book? There are free dining dates available and other discounts, could any discounts (that maybe weren't applied previously) be applied? With this option, you would possibly have to cancel and re-book though. Just a thought.
