I have just a few more updates from last night, these received from disneydreamscometrue101.



On Tuesday night, she and her niece had dinner at...



BOMA




dct101 said, "First, I have to say, a lot of people complain about transportation to AKL, but we had absolutely no problems with it at all. We were actually there half an hour early and were seated in just a few minutes."




"Buffet pictures are not always the prettiest, but here they are..."

"Lamb and beef bobotie, white bean hummus, mashed potatoes, pita, spicy seafood soup. The bobotie was amazing, just enough spice. The hummus was delicious, I need to get that recipe. I loved the soup but I found the heat intensified after a while."

"Spicy chicken and corn chowder, spinach and sweet corn pudding, spinach and quinoa salad. The soup is my favorite. I could make a meal out of the soup, along with a green salad. I don't think I'd ever have the pudding again. The texture was grainy, with leaves of spinach mixed in and the flavour was too sweet. The salad was just ok. Not a lot of flavour."

"With all the food we've been eating we decided against dessert, as nothing really appealed to us."​

CHEF MICKEY'S




She said, "Chef Mickey's was one of the must do's for this trip for my niece.

Once again, we've all seen these items before, but here they are again."

Scrambled eggs, hash brown casserole, sausage, bacon and a pancake.



"It's all typical breakfast fare, but It was all very good. It tasted fresh and the trays were refilled quickly. I know some people have had problems here recently but everything was fine today. Maybe the fact that we had one if the first ADR's of the day may have helped."

Then our final update from yesterday was from their lunch at...



Rainforest Cafe



disneydreamscometrue101 said, "First time at Rainforest Cafe today for lunch. We were originally going to have lunch at Universal but we ended up at DTD at lunchtime so had to find something to eat. My niece was craving a cheeseburger so we opted for Rainforest Cafe."



"It was our first time here but there are some interesting options on the menu.

We started with cheese sticks..."

"They were nice and fresh. There was a good portion of them so they were shared between us both. The marinara sauce was served warm, which is nice. Most places I've had them serve it cold which makes no sense if the cheese sticks are hot."





Her niece chose this kids' meal...

Rainforest Rascals - Char-broiled mini-burgers with Safari fries and a frozen drink in a Cha! Cha! Collectible cup





"I opted for the shrimp platter. Shrimp served three ways. [no pic sent] The traditional shrimp was good, but nothing unusual. My niece ended up eating all but one of them. The skewers are coconut breaded shrimp. There is a sweetness that is nice and its served with a slightly spicy dipping sauce that counterbalances the sweetness. The bacon wrapped shrimp is different. I thought I would love this but it was not what I expected. The bacon and shrimp itself is wonderful but there is a filling under the bacon that I wasn't sure about. I can't be sure what the spice is, but it over powered the shrimp. Regardless of the issues, this dish was good, and if you're a shrimp fan, definitely give it a try."​

"If you think you don't like Greek food, don't let that turn you off from this nice restaurant. Lots of good choices."



"I've also heard reports that this place if loud. Yes, a little, but I think it lends to the atmosphere. With all the folks yelling "Opa" in celebration, how could it not excite the place."






"DH chose an old holdover classic from when this restaurant was still called Spoodles."

"Look at the charred crust on that! I asked my DH why the charred stuffed he make on the grill never tastes this delicious!"

"Also here were the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf and the gang from Robin Hood. I took photos but they're poor angles."





After a 40 minute wait, they finally made it through the line and chose to sit in the Rose Gallery.

"I highly recommend the Rose gallery. Compared with the other rooms it was very quiet with lots of open tables. Service was very good too. Serving and cleaning carts were constantly circling and checking on guests."





"Some wall art in the Rose gallery. There are many of these paintings..."

"I hate to say it because I've wanted to order my food electronically since I saw it on House of Mouse with cartoon penguins doing the delivery, but the problem with Be our Guest IMO is the kiosk ordering. So many people just can not do it. We were behind a family who struggled through the entire process only to restart after several minutes. The service inside was great. The bottleneck was at the kiosks.

Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style) - eight-hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beans jardiniere



"We shared the French onion soup and coq au vin. The soup was good, but DBF was disappointed that the coq au vin was mostly vegetables."





"Sharing didn't fill us up here. So DBF returned to the kiosk to order a steak sandwich. One of the CMs saw the rose from this second order and was worried we'd been waiting the whole time we'd been sitting there. Actually both orders came out in about 5 minutes, very efficient."

She said, "For breakfast we had an almond pretzel I picked up last night at..."

"Oh wow it was good. I had to fight Marshall for it! I think that's because there were raisins in it too and that's his favorite food of the moment."





"Then after Dumbo and Ariel we stopped for one of those tasty waffles with nutella and fruit at..."

"It was really good. In pictures it always looks like there isn't that much nutella but the middle of that thing was soaked with nutella. YUM! Everything on the waffle was really good except the blueberries. As previously mentioned, I don't like 'em even a little bit. Blech!"




"For lunch was came back to the hotel so Marshall could have a bath and nap after his first haircut, so we ate at the..."

"I had this and the chips were really good, freshly fried ones. The flatbread was okay. Via Napoli it isn't, but it was good."

"The cupcake was delicious! Sooooo good! Usually the frosting is tooo sickly sweet but it was perfect!"

"Doug had this and said it was...well a cheeseburger with chips. He got a "Worms in Dirt" cupcake for dessert to share with Marshall and since the baby is still asleep, they haven't eaten it yet but it looks like chocolatey goodness!"

Then later marshallsmommy said, "Snacks for today were ice cream and more ice cream. First a Citrus Swirl from Sunshine Tree Terrace. All I can say is YUK! For one thing it didn't look like the pictures I've seen of this treat. It was all orange, no swirl at all, and it just tasted like weird milk that was frozen...not pleasant! I don't know if it changed or if one of the one million trainees that started this week just didn't know any better and gave me the wrong thing. I actually rechecked my receipt and it says citrus swirl so not sure."

"Soooo refreshing and tasty, worth the 15 minute wait and I chatted with the guy behind me in the line and told him about the DIS, so I am sharing my obsession with others." ​

"I had Cranberry Pomegranate Iced Tea - crisp tartness, herbs and flower petals. It's unsweetened, but would be great on a hot day."


"DH had Darjeeling - The "champagne of teas". Slightly floral notes with a bright amber cup, delicious musk & honey-like after taste uniquely found in good quality Darjeeling. It was so hot that it took a good 10 minutes before he could drink it. Said is was very good when he did get to sip it."




"My favorite Disney character, DiVine..."

Then her last update for today was sent from...

"DH had a 1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs served with baked beans and coleslaw."

"I chose the Ribs and Chicken Combo served with baked beans and coleslaw."



"We decided these were the best ribs we had tasted all week with the ones at Boma a close second. We love the seating areas here right on the water, but you are reminded several times to not feed the animals. As you can see, they are quite the beggars."

"We had a reservation for 5:00 and got there around 4:45 to check in. We were the second family seated and I was the first up at the buffet which was great!"

"The ravioli was awesome and while I didn't take a picture of DH's plate, he said the ham was really good."

"DD had a great time at her very first character meal and the character interaction was really good!"

Thanks barb for the well wishes! I am beyond excited for this cruise & we will be celebrating emme's 3rd birthday. I can't wait to get in our one bedroom suite & just relax. We also have cabana 10 on castaway cay.

I will update from the ship & hoping the wifi is decent. If not, I am putting together a trip report afterwards.

Our First Update of the Day was sent to us today by hulagirl87.


They are staying at the Polynesian Resort and had breakfast this morning at...

"DH liked the strawberry sauce!"




Then they enjoyed their breakfast while sitting outside, despite the fact that it was a cold foggy morning.

She said, "We didn't have the greatest server, but wow is this place gorgeous!"

Grilled Strip Steak with garlic-herb butter and pommes frites

Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop with au gratin macaroni, seasonal vegetables and red wine au jus


"Doug had steak and I had the pork chop. Both were good. Doug loved his fries and I really liked my pork. The mac 'n cheese gratin was pretty bland!"





"For dessert we had one of each of the cupcakes because Marshall was screaming "CAKE!" so we thought he may need his own."

- Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake - vanilla sponge cake, strawberry mousse filling, and cream cheese icing

- Triple Chocolate Cupcake - chocolate sponge cake, chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate ganache

- Lemon Meringue Cupcake - Vanilla sponge cake, lemon custard filling, flamed meringue icing and crunch



"The winner was the strawberry. Yum...sooo good! The chocolate cake was really tasty but the ganache frosting was too dark chocolatey. The lemon was pretty forgettable."

"We have been long time Le Cellier fans, but with the change to two credits, we thought we'd try something different."




"Here's something cool. The meat locker where they age your steaks. If you can see the tags on the meat, they all have dates on them."

8-oz. Center Cut Filet Mignon served with Mashed Potatoes and Cabernet wine sauce




While she chose...

16-oz. Boneless Rib-Eye with sweet onion jam, brioche, and red wine butter
(subbed Carmody Potato Gratin for the bone marrow which normally comes with this)


"Steaks were great, and they cooked medium-rare to perfection."




And for their desserts, they had...

The Yachtsman Sundae - Trio of Gelato with Amarena Cherries




"In comparison to Le Cellier, Yachtsman is much more light and airy. I was impressed with the room between tables. We decided that Yachtsman stacked up equally to Le Cellier, and may even have a slight edge on atmosphere, especially for a party without children."​
