Coming soon! Soarin' Around the World. What in the world do you want to see?

I just hope they keep at least one orange grove in the film.....I love that smell!! :)
I love that smell too! It seems that some of the new places might be difficult to have a coordinating scent. For example...I don't see how the Grand Canyon or Great Wall could have a scent to go with it. Hmm..I can't wait to see what Imagineering has planned!

I thought I read somewhere (though I can't remember where so I don't know how reliable a source I read it from) that the debut of the new Soarin' over here is tied to the opening of Shanghai Disneyland which has been pushed back from the end of this year to sometime during the first half of 2016. So I'm thinking that once Shanghai Disneyland opens, DCA and WDW will get the new Soarin' too. Hence the lack of any specificity beyond "next year" on Disney's part.
Yup. That's what I thought too. Let's hope Shanghai has no set backs.

This is so exciting! Although I am eager to see all of the interesting locations I'm actually super excited about the scents. Still waiting on Yankee Candles to replicate the Soarin' fragrances.....

I'm so disappointed :( I love the ride just as it is... after all its Disney California adventure! There are too many changes going on! I can't keep up!

Just want to add... I'm sure it will be amazing as well but I agree with the previous posters stating they wish there would be one side original and one side for around the world :) I just love the way it is now!

In addition to just a new film, they will have to create new motion profiles for the ride. This can take a lot of tweaking to get it to feel right. But who knows, maybe they've already been working on it after hours? Plus, new scents (or at least new timing of the scents) too.

With the recent upgrade to laser projectors, can we at least hope for 3D?! A theater near me recently upgraded to laser projectors (using different color laser primaries for left and right eyes), and hands down this 3D effect is the best I've ever seen. If this goes 3D, no one will want the old show back! (Okay, I'm sure a few will)

My wife says they should soar over Mt. Everest. Although, I don't know how realistic that would be since you're supposed to be hang gliding.

I'd like for Disney to have multiple clips from around the world.
With the technology used in Star Tours they could mix and mash the clips together.
This would give a huge bonus to the viewing options of the ride.

I could care less for 3D. I've tried to watch 3D movies and it's not for me.

Also, another trend (well, not sure you could call it that) is high frame rate - like the Hobbit movies, and the upcoming Avatar movies. A ride like Soarin, with the purpose of immersion, is something that would benefit from that a lot!

Do you mean like it would be a different ride each time? Different places to Soar over? If so, that would be awesome! I'd be willing to wait just a little longer for that! :-)

A Star Tours blurb boasts "The new Star Tours has 54 different combinations".

For Soarin' Around the World, Disney could do multiple short clips from around the world.

If you think about the current version...... Movement, music and scent....
The movement of the ride seating carrier could be programmed accordingly along with music and scent.
Then all the projection computer would need to do is plug in an appropriate clip to match the ride's program.

If there is the technology for Star Tours, I don't see why Soarin' can't utilize it too.

Even if they can't change it up in each theatre it would be nice at least for each theatre to have a different movie experience.

Great Wall - Chinese Food

It's about time they updated the Soarin' film.

I know I heard a rumor this was coming in the past couple of years and at the time, the thought was one theater would remain California and the other would be the new film. But can you imagine how much longer the line for World would be for the first year or two than California? And the trouble with fast passes? Maybe in the future they could add the California film back (since they did just go through the trouble of digitizing it) to one of the theaters after demand for the new one dies down a bit?

I also thought I read somewhere in the last day that Monument Valley was one of the scenes. If that's the case, I would be surprised if they included the Grand Canyon too. Frankly, I think Monument Valley is much more scenic than the Grand Canyon and it's also extremely remote so it isn't somewhere a lot of people have been to.

As for changing the name signs, I notices when we were there two weeks ago that all the new signs just say "Soarin'."

I don't see how they can keep one theater for Soaring CA either....logistically with crowd control. Maybe in the future after the "newness" fades they can bring back Soarin' CA as a Limited time Magic.

I could see doing both Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. In the Grand Canyon, soaring down through the canyon close to the river. A sight most don't see unless they are river rafting. Lake Powell would be cool too, with a fly through Rainbow Bridge.

Places in South America would be cool -- Angel Falls (inspiration for Paradise Falls in Up), Macchu Picchu, Rio de Janeiro and Christ the Redeemer statue. Africa would be awesome as well -- the Serengeti, Victoria Falls, Mount Kilimanjaro.. There are just so many possibilities.
