Coming Down with COVID while in Orlando

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question. I am thinking about traveling to Orlando n January or February but trying to cover all contingencies with COVID infections increasing .

Has anyone come down with COVID while vacationing n Orlando. I wasn't sure if Universal, WDW or the hotels have a protocol in place for the ill or infected guests. Understandably, the airlines will not allow you to fly. I'm just not sure if the hotels will allow you to stay if you are ill or infectious.

If you get Covid the most sensible things to do is to stay at home. No reason to risk infecting other people!

I was asking about a situation where you left home healthy and came down with COVID during your trip.

If you have covid and Disney finds out about it you'll be asked to leave the property. Now not sure how you would know you get covid while in Orlando unless you get rapid tested everyday of your vacation

I was assuming that the guest would not be relying on a rapid test but would come down with a fever and other COVID symptoms while on vacation So from your post, Disney would require the guest to immediately check out of the hotel.

If that's true and with flying home not being an option, it looks like I would need to rent a car and drive home

I mean if anyone comes down with symptoms you need a rapid test to find out, yes Disney wil not let you stay on property

That's what we assumed we would have to do. Disney might help you find an offsite hotel if you couldn't immediately leave. Personally, I would get everything arranged to leave with a rental car and then tell them that you are checking out and why. If you stay in your room while dealing with stuff and don't have contact with others for a short amount of time, I think that's fine. I haven't actually heard any firsthand accounts though of what happens.

We were wondering the exact same thing today. (I'm a worry wart, and constantly looking at all the 'what if
scenarios.) We have a trip in less than 2 weeks, and I wondered what we'd do if we developed symptoms while in Disney (we'll be there 9 days,) got tested, and found out it was positive. Wasn't sure if we had to quarantine there (at disney,) or offsite, or just go home. We're driving, so no issues with airports.

Same question if we found out we had close contact w someone, the closer it gets to our trip, and then while at Disney, we find out they are positive.. I guess get tested there just in case? or do we self quarantine? Just want to follow all necessary protocols, and know what to expect

I am the same way with having a plan before I need a plan.

With the trip being only myself and my wife, I wanted to know how to handle a situation where we were both to ill to drive home but not ill enough to get admitted to hospital. That situation would be a low probability event but with being from the Midwest and having no relatives or friends in Orlando, I wanted to know what my options are if I had to recover in Orlando.

@Skywalker3, I'm also a worry wart so understand what you mean. That's one of 'several reasons' we won't travel to Disney now. You can come down sick with Covid 'very' fast with no warning. (It just happened to a friend in another state (no health issues) within hours he was on a ventilator, then died within a week). It just happened to attack his healthy kidneys. His wife is in ICU with Covid also and cannot be told of his death - so sad. It's just scary for me and I don't want to be stuck in a strange city miles from home. Like I said, I do worry, and I know it 'can' happen.
