Not sure if this is the best place for this question. We are flying overnight and want to get some sleep on the plane so we can have fun w/out being too tired in the World when we arrive in the morning. So, do people use those rounded neck pillows and can you sleep OK on the plane with them w/out getting a kinked neck? Are the blow up ones comfy? Any other ideas for bringing on good sleep on the plane (other than meds :goodvibes )?

TIA

I have one of the blow up neck pillows and like it a lot. It will keep your head from bobbing all around once you fall asleep. When I sit by the window instead of wearing it around my neck I prop it up on the window and use it like a 'real' pillow. As far as ideas to help you get good sleep on the plane keep your fingers crossed you don't get seated next to a Talker.
Not sure what time of day you're flying out but you could always have a stiff drink to calm your nerves. :drinking: Just don't overdue it. If they think you're drunk they won't let you to fly. Since you're opposed to taking medication for the problem I will assume drinking is out of the question as well but wanted to throw in that piece of advice anyway. Good luck!

I can't sleep sitting up. I pull down the tray table and put a pillow on that then I put my head down to fall asleep. Overall, I have a hard time falling asleep on planes. (well....in planes)

Good ideas, thank you both. I'm not at all opposed to drinking, just didn't want to risk a reaction to medication if I haven't had it before. I'll try the neck pillow and even using it on my tray. I'm kind of short so my head gets pushed forward by the curve of the headrest part of the seat but I bet the neck pillow would help with that. I may sit on my back pack or something too, both for back/neck comfort if I fit the average height of passengers the seats are built for, as well as giving me leg room for dangling my feet if the seats are low.

We are flying Alaska Air overnight and haven't done that before. The only overnight I've done was on a (since dropped) NW nonstop run overnight moving from Hawaii and it was terrible!! The only good thing was being a direct flight it meant less time for all my pets to be in their kennel cages on the plane. The seats were several inches smaller in both width and the space between me and the seat in front of me (as I later discovered on seatguru.com). I think Alaska is better though. Or at least I hope so.
