Comfortable Shoes? Water?

Hi,
My husband and I are planning our 2nd WDW trip with a big family group (including our 14 month old daughter); we leave May 17. We expect it to be hot, and will be trying to get into water often! Any suggestions for avoiding wet socks? Comfy shoes for a day of walking that also dry out well, for women and/or men?

Thanks!

My all time favorites are Keens. I bought some for our August 2004 trip because I expected rain everyday. For that trip, I bought the Newport H2s. They are as comfy as gym shoes, but no problem with the water and dry out fast. My husband now has them, also. I bought some for my girls for our Hawaii trip. They LOVE them, too. We all wore them straight out of the box and didn't have to even break them in. I do think Keens run a bit on the small side. I bought my girls a full size larger than they normally wear. Some people have said they rub, or are narrow. I bought myself a pair of the mens because I have ladies size 11 feet. :guilty: In the August heat, standing all day I expected them to swell even bigger. :sad2: :sad2: so,.....I bought the men's size 10 1/2 and they are roomy, wide, and wonderful. There are some styles that I do have in size 11 womens, but for WDW, I bought a larger size.

I order from Zappos for free shipping/no tax/ free returns. Good luck. To me, great shoes are very important to my WDW vacation. I get very cranky with achy, sore feet. My Keens have really done well for me and my family.

Try These

My husband and I both have a pair of these from Lands End and we love them. We haven't used them at WDW yet, but we have used them while camping and they were great. They were dried quickly and were very comfy for walking when they were wet and when they were dry. Great colors, too!

DW and I are big fans of Teva sandals. No socks to get wet, lots of air to dry out quickly and we don't need moleskin any more....

I second the Teva's. I also used Crocs for the first time this past trip - They are awesome! I loved the Nile's so much, I bought a pair of the Beach which I have been wearing for 2 days straight. No socks to get wet & Croc's are made of water-proof material, so they don't get wet.

Another vote for Crocs. My two boys and I wore ours last week. They never stayed wet and I didn't need socks ( I hate wet socks ). They aren't slippery and they clean up well. They are very ugly, my DH won't wear them, but I love them.

I read about Teva's on a similar thread and decided to purchase a pair. I can't say for certain since I only tried them out at home (not at WDW yet, not until May). But for the whole day that I wore them at home they seemed to be really comfortable (especially in the arch of the foot - where I tend to have problems with lack of support). The only problem that I had was near my little toe (it kept rubbing in that spot on both feet). Teva's are adjustable so I plan on playing around with the straps to find my fit. Hope this helps.

I have some of those Land's End water tennis shoes. I wore them on the beach when we were in Naples. They wouldn't work for me for a day at Disney, but they would be fine for walking around the hotel pools or at the waterparks. They aren't that supportive and the insole is hard.

I can walk all day in Teva sandles. Different styles offer different degrees of comfort and support. I have had great luck for everyday wear with the Pretty Rugged Leather style. I am hoping the same is true for the canvas version, that is suppose to be good for wearing wet.

Another vote for Tevas but the high end ones with cushioning and shock absorption.

I have Teva Pretty Rugged leather and the are great but I did almost give up on them the first week I got them. I gave them another try and adjusted the straps so that nothing was rubbing me or tight and I tried them for about a week and then boom, they were great, like walking on clouds and I have worn them now for 2 Disney trips (one in August with rain every day) and no blisters! They actually conformed to my foot.

I got caught in a down pour at MGM and although they are leather (but waterproof leather) and take a bit longer to dry then nylon, they dried within 2 hours and they weren't squishy or uncomfortable wet and still no blisters. I now have Pretty Rugged nylon for when I go in August or to a water park or the beach!! They are totally waterproof and dry even faster!

I love my reef flip flops! They're great! If you are worried about wet feet I would say just wear a comfortable pair of flip flops or sandals that you own. Everyone thinks one type is better than the next, so whatever works for you. It's kinda personal preference. I will however recommend you stay away from cheaper old navy flip flops. I went down a couple years ago in May with 2 friends and both of them "hydroplaned" on wet ground and ended up wripping the thong part right out of the base. I however had no problem!

I like my Nike Straprunners for days when getting wet is a possibility. I ordered the Lands End water shoes last year and expected them to be great. They look nice and sturdy and look more comfortable than the average water show. After one hour at TL, I had blisters on both of my heels and the smallest toes on both feet. It was a relief to take those things off and walk around barefoot. Three out of the four of us ended up with blisters from the Lands End shoes.

OMG! CROCS CROCS CROCS CROCS CROCS CROCS CROCS!

Tevas gave me blisters within three hours of leaving DSW! (and are non-returnable)

I usually wear birkenstocks and those aren't great to get wet...so I was looking for something else.

Crocs can get wet and dry out in no time flat because they're almost entirely waterproof - they are comfortable from the first second you put them on - I've never had a weird "rub spot" like with the joints on Tevas...there is no adjustment period, no breaking in, and they don't get slick or stinky when they get wet like most sport sandals.

I cannot say enough about them. They are THE BEST shoes (and I was a total total total skeptic, since I live in pricey birks)

$30 for Crocs and a rainbow of colors (or black)

for those that wear Keens ~ are they heavy? They seem bulky and was wondering if they feel heavy on your feet? I ordered the Keens H2, Teva Pretty Rugged, Teva Dorado and North Face shoes yesterday from Zappos. I'll be spending the weekend testing them out. Hopefully at least one pair will work for me!!

CEPMOM- My Keens are awesome. They are no more heavy then my gym shoes - and they make those pretty lightweight now. The soles are rubbery and spongy, so they aren't weighted down. If you get the right size, they are the best shoes ever. The thing is they run small, so I hope you ordered up a size.

Good luck. Happy shopping! Zappos is a great shoe store.

I love my Keens. I have Newports. I bought the same size I always do and they fit wonerfully.
I also have two pair of Crocs. Cayman. These are wonderful as well.
I think Keens or Crocs are good choices.
Walk happy. :cool1:
