Comfort Suites Maingate Review

We stayed at the CS Maingate from Dec 30 to Jan 8th. Overall the hotel is amazingly clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. On the downside the breakfast room is really small and overcrowded. They have two staff members working but they cannot keep up with putting out food and wiping tables. The overall feel is that the room is not clean. They have 2 four slice toasters and only one side of each works. I quit going down for breakfast. The room is smaller than Comfort Suite Maingate and does not have any cupboards, counter or sink for the "kitchenette". You have to use the bathroom counter and sink. The bathroom has a full length mirror opposite the toilet. YUK!! The mattress cover has some sort of plastic in-bewteen the material and it is uncomfortable (sweaty) and makes crinkly noises. The main problem we had was that the front desk did not want to honour our Choice Hotels e-rate guarantee. Fortunately I had our paper work with us and was persistant. It took three people and two attempts with the day office manager but they finally honoured it. I have reported it to Choice hotels. Due to the outside corridors and the hotel at full capacity it was quite noisy in the evenings and mornings. Just normal kids running and yelling but we were used to the quieter CSME. We would not stay there again.

sorry you didn't enjoy your stay.. I just returned from there yesterday with a youth group, 20 youth and 5 chaperones, and we loved it. It was great for a group on a tight budget. We found it very clean and the staff was extremely helpful and courteous. I do, however, totally agree about the mirrors in front of the toilet, what crazy person thought of that????! that's nuts!
Anyway, we plan on returning again next year - we loved the roominess around the pool area and the beds were pretty comfortable. Overall - a good stay for the money.

I was there the same time with you and I agree about the breakfast room - after day two we just ignored the ruling about not taking it to your room and the problem was solved. We didn't have any noise issues as we had a third floor room so maybe we had less foot traffic. I'd definitely stay there again, not least because the pool is so warm and the free internet was an absolute joy for someone who runs their own business and who resents paying $8 just to check email.

I'm sorry your stay wasn't better. This place seems to get really good reviews as a perfect budget no-frills place to stay. I'm glad they honored your rate, but they shouldn't of given you a hard time to begin with.
