Hi all

We're planning our next trip for April / May 2008 (I know ages away!) and we're looking for somewhere nice but affordable to stay in Kissimmee. I have stayed at a few places there befre and they vary from lovely to awful. We have read reviews of Comfort Suites Maingate East and on the whole it looks pretty good.

Does anyone have any reports about it / is it nice / horrible / good / bad points? Are there are floors / rooms to avoid etc?

Hope someone can help! :coffee:

We stayed there when we were looking to buy a home. Its not a bad hotel at all! The rooms were clean, the bathroom was clean. They had a nice pool, and snack bar our by the pool. We were there in Jan and it was cold so we were not swiming at all. The location was good for going to the parks. Depending on the amount of people you have going it may be more cost effective to rent a home near that area. That way you can spread out a bit. But as far as the hotel it was nice we never got the free breakfast when we tried to go for it, the place was a mad house, you couldn't get near the food. LOL If I had to rent a hotel again I would use that one with out hesitation. I hope that helps and I will stop rambling now LOL

Thanks for that! There are only 2 of us so most villas are out of our pricerange. We had a lovely one last year that we shared with another couple - was lovely having a private pool but we can't really afford that option this time.

Thanks for the report though! :thumbsup2

We will be staying there on March 15th. We had an extra night to spend there so to save money I chose that and am using my choice hotel reward points towards a free night.

We love this hotel! We have stayed there the last 6 or 7 times we have gone. The staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean. We get the studio suite through hotelmartusa and never pay more than 67 for it. In the rooms you get 2 queen size beds, a pull out sofa, huge bathroom. There is a little kitchen area with a microwave, fridge and sink. There are 6 in our family and we are very comfortable. We usually eat the free breakfast also without too many problems. It can get crowded at times but if you get there early its not bad. hope this helps! patti

There was only 2 of us as well and it was very comfortable and I would say a step above a regular hotel room. I like that it had a couch and a table and chairs, Nice size bathroom. Over all our stay at this hotel was great and we would rent again if we needed a hotel! :thumbsup2

We're staying here VERY soon!!! I'll make sure we all get up early so as to miss the crowds for breakfast! :goodvibes

We have stayed there three times. The last time was May 04. (since then we have been to POP twice to take advantage of free dining) We would not hesitate to go back, if the price is right. We especially liked the breakfast buffet and having it included saves a lot of money. Just be sure to get to breakfast early - it does get crowded. We will not get back to WDW this year:sad1: but our daughter and BF are going and Maingate East is definately one place we will check out for them.

Hello

Thankyou for all the replies - very much appreciated. I was nosey and had a look at your personal website FLParadisevilla - the house looks fantastic!

We have decided to add to the 2 weeks in Disney and have a week in Sanibel also! Now I have to tell my new boss when I start my new job next month that I need a month off work next year! :rolleyes1

Thank you for the Compliments on our home! A month off how WONDERFUL!! I wish I could take a month off!:sad2:
I want to go to Sanibel Island it looks so nice! When my husband and I got married (in Florida) He had ordered me a sandcastle charm that we found at a jewlery store online in Sanibel Island! That is the closest that I have gotten to there.

I know you will have a great vacation!! :cool1:

Hi

I dont think I will actually get away with a month off but I can try ;) You should try to get to Sanibel - it is stunning. The wildlife is amazing, the beaches are out of this world and it has such a laid back pace of life - ah take me there now away from the freezing cold of England's winter:boat:

Hello

Thankyou for all the posts on this topic. I was wondering if anyone knew what rooms are best to go for here? Which are the quietest & where are they situated? If I can be specific as to where I would like the room to be when we book I would be happy - well when DH book! He's far better at getting what he wants than me! I'd say thankyou & smile if they put me in a broom cupboard!! :rolleyes1

We've stayed at the Comfort Suites Maingate East our last 3 trips and are returning this coming October. As for rooms, we've had rooms on the higher floors and and rooms on the lower floors, including the main floor. We can honestly say that none of the rooms we've had were better than others. All were great. They look exactly like they do on their website. :thumbsup2

Our only complaint with this hotel is that the elevator can be very slow at peak times as there are only 2 elevators for the entire hotel of 190+ rooms. If you do get a room on one of the upper floors, we would suggest taking the stairs, if you are able. It will save you a ton of time waiting for the elevator to come.

Just an FYI... I booked this hotel through choicehotels.com using my rewards # for 6 people (3 adults, 3 children). The total was about 980.00 (including all taxes and charges) for a 2 Queen bed suite, 8 nights.

Then, after reading a couple posts on here about the low rates on hotelmartusa.com, I went to that website to check their rates. For some reason, I could not enter my DD17 and DD13 as children. They are considered adults and I could not book a single room but 2 rooms  The nightly rate was lower, but the total price ended up being about $300 more. So I'm keeping my original booking.

It pays to check around. A good deal for one may not be the best deal for someone else. :)
