I'm planning a trip to WDW in October. We've always stayed at Comfort Suites Maingate East. I just recently heard something negative about it and was wondering if the quality has changed. We haven't been there for two years. Your help is greatly appreciated. By the way, "Little Debbie" is still offering a promo for Choice Hotels. We reserved our room for $63 on week nights and $87 for weekend nights. If there's a better deal out there, let me know!

Thanks,

This one was just voted the Comfort Suites of the year, so I doubt it's gone downhill.

I had a ressie for october I got thru freehotelguide.com for $54/night. I cancelled it when I got a week at Orange Lake thru SkyAuction. All my research I came up with was very positive. I'm sure you will be satisfied w/ it.

Thanks! We had such great experiences the two times we spent at CSME. I was hoping to have another great one the third time around. Thanks for the Hotelkingdom tip! I wasn't able to find the deal you did for the end of October, but I'll keep checking.

Dear Gutto,

My Sister-in-law is from Brazil! I hope you have a wonderful time here!

To answer your question, my family loved CSME. We stayed there twice, once in 2000 and once in 2001. My kids thought that the best part was the free continental breakfast. They had waffles, pancakes, fruit, yogurt, donuts, muffins, cinnamon roles, bagels, cold cereal, oatmeal, grits, coffee, tea, hot chocolate mix, orange juice, and apple juice. The friendly staff made sure that food was in abundance. The dining area was large and you could also go a few steps out a door and eat by the swimming pool.

The pool was clean and heated, although not large. However, it was never crowded. There was also a children's wading pool with a mushroom fountain.

Beyond the pool in the back of the hotel, is a forested area where we saw a number of deer. The front faces Old Town where you can watch bungie jumpers take the plunge. So the view is pleasant and fun from any room. We did not walk around Old Town much, we just ran out of time. So I can't tell much about that. However, it seemed to be a very casual place, not fancy.

Publix grocery store is very, very close along with many restaurants.

The only problem was when we stayed the second time at CSME, our room was over the hotel laundry. It sounded like we were sitting on a jet engine. I just told the hotel clerk that we would like another room and she was very quick to offer us another room on the 7th floor.

The rooms are very clean and roomy. Ours could sleep six. It had two queen sized beds and a pull out sofa bed. It was called a suite, but the bedroom is not closed off from the sitting area and bathroom. It is only separated by a partial divider. It had a microwave and a small refrigerator and sink area.

I believe the hotel provides a shuttle to DW and some of the other parks. I'm not sure how good it is, because we rented a car.

CSME is also very close the Disney planned community, Celebration. We really enjoyed walking around here. It's fascinating. There were also some very good restaurants, shops and a movie theater here. My family toured a million dollar home that was for sale in Celebration. It was fun!

Hope this helps. I don't know the age of your kids, but I probably wouldn't let them wander on their own around Old Town unless they are much older. Yes, you can walk to the shops safely. They are only a short distance from the hotel.

We'll see if the staff has remaind as nice when we go in October. I hope they haven't become rude.

Have a good trip.

TWIRLYWIG,

I was checking on expedia.com the other day for a stay on the 19-21 of September '03 & the rates showed only $60 per night & these are Friday & Saturday nights. Also, I believe they offer discounted rates with the Entertainment Book. $60 on expedia is pretty good, might not be able to beat that.

I stayed there last year & really enjoyed my stay. My only very slight grumble would be the elevator service seemed kinda slow, everything else was great!!

edit!!!

ok WOW after reading C. Ann's post about hotelmartusa.com I checked my dates & some dates in October since that is when you are staying. for the suite that sleeps 6 EVERY NIGHT shows for only $55 ! ! ! ! that beats expedia's rate & hopefully your's too. plug in your dates & check it out!! thanks C. Ann! ! ! ! ! !

Thanks Cinamin!

It's so cool that you would go to the trouble of looking up my dates as well as your own. I did it! I got the $55 rate for all 9 nights from Oct 24-Nov 2. I just got done squealing about it on C. Ann's thread. I love theses boards!
