you leave on your trip! Yesterday I called to confirm ours, we leave tommorrow, and found that a Famtasmic dinner res change had been cancled. Thankfully though the orginal dinner reservation was still active. I also found two other res's missing. With the conf.#, we were able to find them and place them back into our group.

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm thinking I should confirm my today since we leave on Saturday. I've just been procrastinating. I guess I should make sure I do that now.

I'm more than a little confused.
If the Fantasmic had been cancelled it would not still be on the system as a "dinner only" the only way that could have happened was if it was a regular booking in the first place ( never Fantasmic) or if you had two bookings ( one Fantasmic and one regular) for the same group at the same time and one was cancelled.

Are you saying you "lost" the reservations or Disney "lost" them or thay had been cancelled and using the old confirmation numbers you managed to put new reservations into the system?

Unless someone calls to cancel the reservations, they don't "automatically" cancel themselves and DIsney's staff are not going to amuse themselves by looking up random reservations and cancelling them without authorisation (they'd be fired pretty quick if they did). When a call comes in to cancel a reservation the agent would ask the person calling to verify some of the personal information on the booking (this is one of the reasons people are asked for information when they call in, much as this vexes people it is done to protect the integrity of their reservations).

By checking and rechecking your reservations you run a larger risk of an agent making a mistake and instead of exiting the reservation while checking it for you they click the "cancel res" button in error.
Once the booking is in the system it isn't coming out unless an agent pulls it up (which will only be done if someone calls in to ask for it). If the booking is correctly read back to you when made, there is no need to constantly double, triple check it as this is pretty much the only time it could be cancelled in error. To be cancelled on purpose, it should only be possible with the help of someone who has intimate knowledge of the reservation.

If you want to be sure of your reservations, make sure you listen to the reservation when it's recapped to you and leave it alone unless you have to make changes to it.

If you feel you absolutley have to check your reservations and I strongly recomend not to do so. The Quickest and safest way to do it is to tell the agent that you want to check all the reservations that you have made and to do this you give them your phone number and they will be able to search all your reservations. They can re cap and give you dates times restaurants from this screen but not be able to accidently cancel any individual reservations. This is not the case if you just give them a large number of individual reservation numbers, which would take them to a place where it is possible to cancel a reservation in error. This will save you alot of time and reduce the risk of any errors being made.

Jana,

Why would you say not to check your ADRs? I've not had many problems, but I've had a few. Accidents happen. I showed up at LeCellier once with my confirmation number and they said they had no record of me. They took the number and said it was for the day before. Well, we had only arrived that day, so I know I wouldn't have made it for the day before. In the end they did find a place for us, an hour and a half later. If it had just been DH and I it wouldn't have been that big of a deal, but we'd invited some friends who live in Florida to come for dinner. How embarrassing. If I had called before we left and checked my ADRs I would have discovered my mistake and perhaps something could have been done to correct it. At the very least we could have changed to another restuarant. BTW - while the podium person told us that the ADR number was for the day before, the person who seated us told us the number didn't come back to our name and was for another restuarant??????

I just confirmed mine and sure enough, she said I had one whole day where I didn't have PS made. I had 3! We did find them since I had my numbers and she corrected the mistake (in this case it was a typo they made so it didn't show up when she pulled up my records).

It was a minor detail and I'm sure if I had gone there, it probably would have been there but now I feel better knowing it's all in one spot and all under the correct name/phone number, etc...

I did ask that I wanted to confirm them and had HER read off the places as opposed to me giving the numbers (except for the 3 that got misplaced).

She was also able to tell me the tours/activities I had booked (that are in her system any way).

I just asked if she could sort them by date order and we just went down the line that way.

I won't be calling again now to confirm it and this is the only time I did it since making them 90 days ago. If you were calling daily or something, I could see how that could increase you chances of one accidently getting deleted, etc...

We just returned from a trip 2 weeks ago. Before we went, I confirmed all of our reservations. Everything was OK. When we reached Ohanas for breakfast they had no record. After I pulled out my PS number and showed it to the CM, she still could not find it, for anything, anywhere. However, she apoligized and said that she would still try to work us in. We only waited for 15 minutes and she called our names. I was extremely happy in regards to how the CM handled the situation, because I was very frustrated. Glad she helped us!

IMHO the best time to "check" them is by making sure you are VERY attentive when the booking is read back to you when it is made. If you feel it necessary repeat the date and time to the CM when they give you the confirmation number. That is the best time to catch any error because it is impossible for the CM to cancel the ressie at that point unless they use the confirmation number to reopen the reservation. If you call back to check you reservation, using the confirmation number, there is an option to cancel the reservation and it is relatively easy for the CM to cancel the ressie by mistake when trying to exit the system. If the reservation was correct originally when it was made and recapped to you, unless someone accesses that reservation, it will not change.

If you want to do a "quick check" for a number of reservations (time/date/restaurant) if you ask the CM to search for all of your dining reservations using your home phone number, they can see all the reservations you have and read that information to you, without having to access individual reservations. Again at this point it is impossible for them to cancel a ressie in error. It is only by looking at the individual reservation that it is possible for them to make a mistake.

Using your phone number will be MUCH quicker and has virtually no chance of a mistake being made. Using individual confirmation # s to check each one, one at a time , will take you 3 or 4 times as long to complete your check and it also means there is a VERY SLIGHT risk (maybe 1 in a 1000) that the CM will click on the wrong area and cancel the ressie without realizing it.

Just to underline the point, the best time to check the information is when you make the reservation by being attentive to the recap. I know it's easy to get distracted and bored at this point but the more times you fully access a reservation the higher risk you have of a mistake being made.

my problem wasn't boredom but doing it at work... i know i need to check because they charged me for the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, and then when she was charging my credit card I asked why since i had the dining plan and she made a new reservation.... however, I just checked my credit card and i was charged 125 from disney :rolleyes1 so i figuired i wait until the free dining was over to call and figuire out what the heck is going on

Perhaps it would be a better idea, if making sure reservations are done correctly is important, that everyone should do it at a time and location that allows plenty of time and attention to make sure it's done correctly. I can understand it would be difficult to listen fully to the recap if you've got one ear on the door listening for a boss/superviser to arrive (and wonder why you're doing your personal bookings on the companies time and dollar) and one eye on the clock because you want to get things done in a rush. If you are hurrying, not paying attention and try to rush the CM you increase the chances of mistakes being made.

I agree that you should check at least once...........everyone makes mistakes! I made multiple PS arrangements in one phone call last year, took down all of the confirmation numbers provided and then went on my merry way to WDW, only to find out that 1 of the PS had the wrong number of people listed. It wasn't a major problem and I wasn't angry because I know that ANYONE can make a mistake. It's good to check the reservations to make sure there are no mistakes on either end. I work at a University and have known the computer to even transfer info wrong. I don't know why you would not check. Not harass..........just check. I've got new ADR's for a trip in September and you can bet I will be calling to check on them before I leave.

I respectfully have to disagree with this statement. It must not be meant for us to go to Donald's Breakfastosaurus because on our last 2 trips (1999 and 2002), I booked this character breakfast. Both times it was scheduled for later in our trip and when the morning came around for us to go, we were all so tired that I called that morning to cancel the ressie. Both times I was told that they didn't show a reservation for us at Donald's Breakfastosaurus. I was shocked both times to hear that when I had not called back to cancel or make any changes to that ressie before we left for our trip. It had not been touched by me from the time I made it. Who knows how these things happen, but I can definitely vouch for that fact that they do! :confused3

I do appreciate this piece of information. I will make sure when I confirm my ressies that I use my telephone number - thanks! :flower:
