For locals, or those in town:

:yay:

I'm CW fan, although much more of an AC fan.
That said, this is great news!!!

Stupid question, but this is being held at the CW in PI,,, right??

MG

Not on WDW property at all.

I have never been to, nor heard of this place. I'll know after this weekend. :rotfl: I believe it is in downtown Orlando.

380 W Amelia St
Orlando, FL 32801-1101

SAK has been around for a LONG time. I read about SAK in an old Orlando guide from the late 90's.

I actually thought SAK went under as well.

Yes, SAK has been around a long time. I'm old enough to remember when they were just a small troupe performing at Renaissance festivals. And they were one of the original performing acts in World Showcase when EPCOT Center first opened.

FYI, Wayne Brady got his start in comedy at SAK. After he was Tigger's "friend" at WDW, of course. :)

woo hoo! I will be in Orlando by then. This will be on the MUST DO list!

Okay, just reraed... Where is SAK??

MG

Yes it is in downtown Orlando near the arena. Went there a couple times when I used to work at the Grand Bohemian, and it was a good time. Unfortnately my schedule doesnt work where I can go, so hopefully they will do another one...

Next Friday, they will also do a Duel of Fools at SAK. Four SAK players will square off against four CW alumni. Call the number posted above for reservations.

Yes, on their website they also list:

"On January 23rd the Comedy Warehouse Cast will go head to head against the SAK Ensemble in a Classic Duel of Fools competition at 8pm and 10pm.
Call the SAK Comedy Lab Box Office at (407) 648-0001 for Reservations."

What's the matter, no one can tell us know-nothings what the h-e- double hockey sticks SAK stands for???:confused3
Or do I have to belong to your secret club to find out...........

I don't know what SAK stands for. But it is SAK Comedy Lab. (sak.com)

I checked out the web site. Looked around for 20 minutes, and could not find what the letters mean anywhere on the site.:confused3

I went to the 10pm show and it was absolutely fantastic! They did shmepordy, and a musical story along with the cliche thing where poor mary had to figure out "must is cuz must aint's bad language" that was a killer! There was a great mix of cast and even though I saw the show a lot in 04 and 05 then only 2 or 3 times until it closed, the cast was recognizable and even the ones I didn't know were simply fantastic. I will be there next week for sure with reservations this time. The place was so full people were sitting on the steps! Kudos to Sak and the CW alumni both for working this out and giving the audience a great time!

There were definitely a few times when everyone had a flashback to the old days and a few sly references to PI closing and actors losing their jobs were mentioned, but everything was kept very light. I wasn't expecting Carol on the keys, but she was and it was fantastic! I actually met her dad, who was sitting right next to us. I could tell he is a very very proud father. It's such a shame that her talent is wasted in the rose and crown.

Ok I need to stop now before i start crying

We were at the 8 pm show. As you said, it was PACKED to the point people were sitting on the stairs.
With a show of clap of hands I would guess at least 80% of us were there for CW.
The next question was how many are SAK regulars and wondering what the heck is going on? (With not NEAR as many responding.)
I am guessing their regular Saturday nights are not like that.
We did have reservations. Without them, I think people were most likely left out.
I really love Schmerpadoy. However we had Up Your Alley :goodvibes and the one where they say whatever line they pick up from the floor. (Love those too.) :goodvibes
WONDERFUL time. It was great to laugh again so hard that tears run down my face.
And it was announced CW cast will return! :rockband: party: :jumping1:
I think it was a BIG hit. 8 - 9 of the CW cast were on stage. That was something. Only one person we had never seen. We don't know if he was from shows before our time or with SAK. But of course he was good too.
The director (MC type person) of the show we watched use to be the director at CW.

For future attendees:
There are two sections of each show. It is like watching two CW shows, only you don't have to leave to stand in line and re-enter.
It is $10 to park in the parking garage. However the SAK entrance is on the first floor. It is very convenient that you do not even have to leave the parking garage.
We arrived a half hour prior to showtime and barely got what we considered decent seats. Next time we will definitely arrive earlier.
They really had the chairs packed in due to a sell out reserved crowd. Some seats had to not be so great.
We were seated more off center stage. But half decent seats.
The downside is the cast does not use microphones as they did at CW. I think some cast at first were not use to having to speak VERY loud.
Luckily everyone around us was quiet. But even with that if an actor was speaking a normal tone and had their head turned away, we could not hear a word.

Overall it was a wonderful sight indeed to see the cast on stage again. I really thought I would never see that again. Now THAT was magic! :hyper: pixiedust: :dancer:

It was $10 to park. However I think if you show your ticket you get some $ off a snack purchase. We had just eaten so did not buy anything.
Our at PI entrance was covered from APs. However we use to drop $10 at Wetzel's Pretzels, plus whatever we spent at the clubs. So really between the entrance fees and parking we probably still came out even. And of course had a great time. :cheer2:

We were there last night for both shows. Very crowded. Not "The Last Weekend of Pleasure Island" crowded, but close. We weren't going to miss it, though. One of our favorite Adventurers Club performers was on stage and several of our favorite Comedy Warehouse performers were there. Plus it was nice to see a few familiar faces in the crowd, and chat with them about what they've been doing since September.

Certainly more crowded than I've ever seen it before at SAK.

And it was very very funny. Looking forward to next week already.

On the topic of what SAK stands for, here's what the website has to say about the people who founded SAK:

. . . these fearless and brave individuals who took to the streets of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival with nothing but a bag of costume pieces (theater in a sack - SAK Theater - oh, now I get it)...

Get it? :confused3

Good!:thumbsup2

Anybody who was there at the 10 o clock show. When they did that skit where someone came up on stage and they taped him on the shoulder and he or she had to say something. The guy with the crazy glasses was my bro :-).

I always had so much fun at Mannequins, Motion and 8TRAX that I never went to Comedy Warehouse and only twice to Adventurers Club. That is something I now regret. BRING THEM ALL BACK!
