the comedy club at Pleasure Island is back to its original quality...
for the past few years when we've seen it, only one or at most two of the improv performers were good...
this year all 5 were excellent...
we laughed so hard we were crying....especially their doctor phil bit, which was hysterical....i couldn't breathe i was laughing so hard...

Yes children are allowed in and before the show starts there is a good-humoured announcement reminding people of this and that it is Disney. However ...... it is improvisation and some of the humour from both cast and audience can be a little 'adult'. Each time I've been it's all been pretty harmless stuff - mostly ambiguity - but I know from the US boards that some people can be a little sensitive about these things.

This is great news. I'm really looking forward to spending the night in the Comedy Club and Adventurers Club next month when visiting PI.

Thanks,
Andy

Is there somewhere to eat at the Comedy Club or is it just a bar?

Also do you have to book to go there?

Thanks for any information - would really like to vist here this time we are there!!

I would like to see this .....Youngest is 8 now.and we are staying at SSR so she will stay up and watch with us if allowed :sunny:

You don't book for the Comedy Warehouse - just turn up and queue; the earliest performance is the easiest one to get into normally. The times are posted outside.

The performance starts about 10 minutes or so after everyone is seated and during this time drinks orders are taken. You may be able to buy popcorn (not sure) but I think that's about all for food.

Sometimes it's hilarious and sometimes there are many American TV/political/sporting references that we Brits might have trouble 'getting'. I always enjoy it, but it does vary. ;)

How long is the show? We're probably going to have an evening at PI this year. I'm 18 so I think I'm ok to get in most of the clubs except Mannequins and BET Sounstage Club, both of which play music I can't stand so there's no problem!

I'm pretty sure the show is 30-40 minutes long and I believe there are about 4 shows a night. I can recommend the Adventurer's Club too (again, can be very funny and the pre-show activities involve audience participation which can vary a lot from night to night).

it seemed much shorter than that, but i didn't look at my watch...
it really only seemed about a half hour long at the very most....maybe even less than that..

it only has drinks and popcorn, but you don't have to buy anything...
we didn't since we were sitting in seats that didn't have a table to put a drink down on...

and yes, i didn't think of that....the humor is most definitely american....
the Dr. Phil bit might not have been as funny to you....i'm not sure....
they made fun of certain types of americans which was totally hysterical (rednecks and PC types....)....it was so well done...but maybe you wouldn't have found it funny......i'm not sure now..

all i can say for sure, is that the quality has vastly improved over what it's been for the last few years.....

we didn't go into the adventurers club because my kids hate it..

we tried all the other clubs, but no one was dancing........in our experience, americans aren't big on dancing, so those other clubs seem a bit boring (except maybe the black club, but there wasn't anyone there yet)....
