Come to the Dark Side...We Have Cookies...(updates 4/3)

The brain is truly an amazing thing!! His strengths are amazing!!! He appears so more mature than his age in how he relates to things. His strengths will get him far.

No, I didn't see the pm but yes, I have unlimited texting. I'll go look for the pm now.

Thanks. He definately can relate better with adults or teens much better than he does his peers. I think that's why he gets along so well with the kids at his theater classes. They are all much older than him, 12 and up.

Look forward to meeting both you and your dh soon.

such an amazing boy JJ is! love the fact he wants to help others!
know what the theater means to you all and would be happy to help out!!!

Thanks. I am too. Especially after the initial psych evaluation he had that said he was incapable of empathy. He does have a tender heartfor others and has come a long way.

Awesome!

JJ sounds like a young man I'd love to meet!! A very big heart in a small body. He will go a long way and is a very smart boy.

:welcome: Thanks for the kind words! He said the other night that he is a gentle soul. He is a very sensitive boy.

Back in 2010 when his seizures first began he was suddenly turned into a totally different person. The pediatric epileptologist that he goes to now has changed all of our lives and brought our boy back to us with the right combination of medications.

Plus theater is helping immensely with teaching him perspective taking. He is understanding how people look when they are expressing emotions. Before, he couldn't read faces. He still asks me from time to time what my face means. And joking is very difficult for him to figure out.

He's certainly come a long way since 2010! Thanks. He is still a bit Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde, but when he isn't in meltdown mode, he is such a sweetheart. Thankfully the meltdown moments are happening alot less.

Today is buddy baseball and it conflicts with Clone Wars. This has the potential to be a tough for JJ to cope with. He never misses a new episode of Clone Wars. There are 3 episodes left for the season.

Can you record it for him and then explain that he can watch it as soon as he gets back? Maybe that would help. Good luck!

So far nobody has mentioned to him that it is Saturday. He enjoyed the buddy ball practice. As usual he declared it the best baseball practice EVER.

It sounds like buddy baseball went well. I am thrilled to hear it!!

:welcome: Tammy! Sounds very hectic at your end. Were you just on another cruise? I think pics I just saw were a different one?

Oh that grilled cheese is good! I've had my fill of cinnamon rolls now. I think I MIGHT be able to pass on them next time.

Yes. End of Jan early Feb we sailed on the Wonder. We had a great time. I had to leave Christian at home. (Only four of us could go) That was hard for me. I cried like a baby, several times. Things have been crazy busy but that's good. No complaints. Better to be busy than sitting around waiting for a call. Had Christian been with us I would have stopped at WDW for a couple of days.

Glad he enjoyed baseball! We tried to get Trev to play but he went with soccer instead.

It did! He loved it.

Oh how fun! So sorry only 4 of you could go. Was Christian jealous to be home? Do you have any reservations about cruising after what happened on Carnival's Triumph?

Hopefully we'll be seeing you soon.

I've finally had the chance to stop by and say "HI"!! :wave2:

:welcome: So glad you stopped by.

Glad he enjoyed baseball! We tried to get Trev to play but he went with soccer instead.

It was the perfect day. It was cool, 65 degrees. He did great until he ran the bases. Even though it was one base at a time, he felt really dizzy til he was done. He met another boy his age, not on his team. And a girl who is on his team, but much older. They put the good, strong players on one field and the ones just learning on another field.

He loves soccer too. He played in 2010, but it was the night after he ran his heart out on the soccer field in heat and humidity that he had his first grand mal. That ended his soccer career for a while. He often says he wishes he could play soccer again. Maybe some day we'll find an indoor field?

You all will not believe this! Guess what's on tv right now?! Clone Wars, the episode he missed. He is watching it right now.

Tomorrow starts Hip Hop classes. I am taking it too. This should be interesting. It is a special needs class, but family members may take it too.

Yay for the buddy baseball!!! So glad to hear it went well and JJ met some new friends! How often will they play/practice?

Have fun with the hip hop class tomorrow! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Thanks, he enjoys meeting new friends. They practice one day a week and play a game one day a week.

It should be fun!

I am so glad that I've found out about all these wonderful opportunities for special needs kids in our community. They are so relaxed and the instructors don't get phased when unexpected things happen. It's such a delight to see them give it their all.

65 would be hot over here this time of year :) I think we broke the 50 degree mark the other day...
glad he met some new friends. Hopefully the next time he plays he will feel better when running the bases.

I understand why his soccer career stopped. How scary! Hopefully you can find an indoor arena for him. In some ways it is good it does not get too hot here so Trev can play outdoor sports. Last year Trev only missed 3 practices because it was too hot.

I couldn't resist!

That is AWESOME!!!!! Are you able to tape things you miss?

That sounds like FUN and GREAT exercise! Have a fabulous time! :goodvibes

Yay for buddy ball going well with the exception of the dizziness when running the bases. It sounds like he's already started making some new friends.

I didn't realize that you were going to be taking the hip hop classes too! How fun!

I still have some catching up... But I wanted to say it is great that not only did JJ enjoy baseball- but that he didn't end up missing the episode of clone wars!

Have fun in hop hop!
