I don't know what is wrong with certain people but never have I seen so many hurtful comments in one forum before ...

Yeah I get it there are thousands of people on here and everyone is entitled to their opinion, and people may not agree with each other. That's fine but to bully and make silly comments on people's thread that's isn't even related to the subject is not fine..

Who cares if someone posts something which you may think is silly or unbelievable!! .. This is a Disney forum they are posting about something related to that so why can't you answer it instead of making personal comments about the poster like their lying or stupid etc ...

To be bullied it's not nice. This site from what I can see is a place to gather and talk about one thing we do have in common Disney...

So. Please don't tell people their stupid, or their thick because they can't spell.
Or that their a liar and a attention seeker..*

Just post about the thing that is being talked about, and don't bully the poster personally*
They do have feelings we are human..

So if you don't like what that poster is saying don't comment simple as ..

Please just keep it to the subject and don't make things personal.

I'm not going to be popular with this which is fine.*
Il go and chat with my other Disney friends that can support other people and have proper discussions and debates.*

Disney is meant to be the happy place *so why can't this Disney forum be the same.*

Ps I also just want to say I want to thank the people that did give me helpful advice and comments and I know there are lots more happy people than negative people on here!

I agree. I try to avoid the threads with the drama which is sad because hidden in those threads could be valuable Disney info but I get enough drama when I go to work everyday.

I'm sorry that you felt picked on and your feelings were hurt. Perhaps you need a thicker skin to post on the internet. Honestly, the DIS is tame compared to the vast majority of internet bulletin boards. I cut my teeth of rec.arts.disney.parks ... that place was the Wild Wild West compared to the DIS .

For the record, personal attacks are NOT allowed on the DIS. If someone attacked you personally (or you think someone else is being attacked personally) you can report the post and one of the moderators will take care of it.

The DIS is very tame compared to some of the message boards I've been on *coughbabycentercough*

There are going to be people who want to stir up trouble everywhere you go on the internet, and people prefer to complain over just about every other form of rhetoric.
After a while you learn which threads to avoid. In most cases, you can see everything you need to know on the first or second page, then the rest is usually repetitive or irrelevant. Eventually you'll learn to get in and get out.

Even review threads get pointless after a few pages, because there's no general consensus on just about anything.

I agree completely. Sometimes I'm afraid to post things because I'm not sure what some people will have to say or the bad attitudes they might give. I try to be helpful when I can and if I can't I don't post anything. That being said I have had a lot of nice people that help me with my questions. That's why I love the dis

I agree completely, it's sad how many adults are so rude and mean to other people on here. It is so sad and disappointing.

It's interesting that the folks who agree with the OP are all relatively new to the boards. The DIS is what it is. We get the occasional lecture from time to time from a well meaning new poster. OP, you're right...in a perfect world yadda yadda. But the DIS is far from a perfect world. It isn't even the real world. Not by a long shot.

Don't let the things you see here get to you and get you down. It's just words. Anonymous words on a message board. Let the nonsense roll of your back and try to focus on the good. There is lots of good here. Way more than the bad. If you can't get past it, then the DIS may not be for you. And you're right...lectures from the new kid on the block is not likely to win you any favor amongst the "natives". I like you though!

I agree- but unfortunately you're going to get the same level almost anywhere because you don't see the person you're talking to face to face and therefore don't have to worry about hurting them.

If you are afraid that you may be taken to task over something you've posted, them posting on a public discussion board may not be the best environment for you. The mods here don't tolerate flat out name calling. Nothing here is all that unmanageable as far as disagreements go..if someone is really getting to you, put them on "ignore".

I'm sure I'm on quite a few "ignore" lists. I'm fine with that though because I realize that some people hear a dissenting opinion as a criticism. Nothing I can do about that.

I couldnt agree more, every few months some noob comes on starts this same thread and states the obvious of every internet message board. Internet people can suck! I think there is a perfect balance of people who are drinking the disney kool aid and those who seem to have a more negative opinion. Any time someone starts a thread asking for specific info they get direct and helpful answers but the threads asking someones opinion on things are going to get someones opinion. Its the internet, if what someone says on a message board really affects someone that much maybe its time to move on.

You should see a local forum that I belong to. They are allowed to discuss politics and pretty much anything and the insults fly!

Just let it slide. You can put people on ignore if they really get to you.

I agree with you, Erin. And while I may be a newbie here, I do belong to other discussion boards and I find this to be the most critical.

Most folks here are pleasant and helpful but there is an undercurrent of cynicism and negativity.

Thicken your skin? That's one posters answer. Common courtesy and respect, that's the correct answer.

I could agree more OP! And I'm a vet of this board since before the crash of 1999. I've been very put off by the attitudes and down right nastiness of some people here on DIS. Mods don't seems to care (say what you want about the rules, some forums more or less than others), owners don't seem to care (as I've asked) and it runs rampant. I even did a lifetime sponsorship several years ago because I truly value a lot of the info I glean here, but the displays of people within the last few years has been outright disgusting. Thicker skin has zip to do with it. It's just downright mean and nasty people. no one should have to grow a "thicker skin" to accept that behavior. It shouldn't be so easily accepted in my opinion. Not here or in society, period. And I also agree, you'd *think* in a place of people that clearly love the "happiest place on Earth", there sure seems to be a lot less happiness to be shared amongst some of it's fans.

This thread will be the flame to attract the moth. They can't possibly see it and not come for some "fun".

I agree. Many times as soon as a discussion gets going the plug is pulled on it.

This is without a doubt the tamest, G rated site I know. Even our local newspaper comments section gets wilder!
