I've since learned that the "current" offer I mentioned earlier is not only on 6/7 vacations. It's for ANY package length of 3 days or more.
While I'm not wanting to lock my self into a package deal at this time (trying plan a Christmas suprise, so I'd like some flexability in case something needs to change on 12/26), they seem to be pretty good.
The first part of the package discount is in the tickets. They are charging the base ticket price, and throwing in Park Hopper and Water Park Fun in for free. The free upgrade to Park Hopper alone is a $75-$105 saving (family of three that I'm pricing out) over Disney's Online advertized price.
The second half seems to be a discount on the rooms. When I run the math, I'm finding that on a 5 night stay at a Value resort, they are charging about $65-66 per night (I'm not sure EXACTLY what they are doing, because they have the package with tax priced the same for Pop Century as the All-Star, but Pop Century is subject to only an 11.5% tax, while All-Star is subject to a 13% tax, so either something is screwed up in thier package calculations or they are giving a better discount for All-Star than Pop Century to make the prices match).
Per mousesavers.com,
AAA/CAA gives a 20% discount, which, if true, means current AAA/CAA room rate is about $61. That's only a $5 savings compared to Disney's current discount. But then you have to get the tickets, and if you don't use the package AND want Hopper passes, you're going to be spending that $75-105 (even more for a family of four) by the time you buy tickets with what, a few dollar's discount at best?
