Well, I've booked and rescheduled our trip soooooo many times and I MISS WDW & THE FORT!!! So I've done something I probably should not have done, but it's my last chance before my daughter goes off to college!

With ticket price increases rumblings and a $30 rebate from Amex that must be used by Dec. 31 that I just discovered, I ordered our tickets. We have huge bills due, but I figure what's another $1500?!

We'll be there from April 2 to April 9. The campsite is almost entirely paid off and *somehow* I'm going to pay my huge bills (did I mention that my clutch went earlier this month?) and the credit card the park tickets are on.

But we *are* going! and we will go into the parks this time! It's been 4 years since we've been in the parks!

Oh, and Ed, we were in Pensacola for Thanksgiving this year. Really nice, newer campground I'd recommend: Pensacola Beach RV Resort. I know you camp down Orange Beach way. Do you ever get to the Florida side?

I haven't heard about the "Rumblings" of an increase. Do you have any more info on it, or is this just the annual "concern about a price hike" concern?

We are going in November 2016. Since the tickets don't have an expiration date (until first use) I may end up buying sooner rather than later if there is a price increase planned.

Mousesavers.com has been saying there may be an increase. Usually they're right.

Napria, I don't get into the panhandle of Florida to camp. I am a creature of habit and like to stay on the Bama Gulf Coast.

I looked at your PB RV resort and it looks very nice. My only concern with it would be having a popup, they seem to have fewer shower/bathrooms (assuming people would mostly use their own internal units). However, I did note the Fort Pickens/Gulf Islands National Park just to the west and its campground looks more my style. It's only 30 miles as the crow flies from Gulf State Park but takes about 70 minutes to drive all the way around to P-Beach.

I need to get back over that way and check things out. I've been as far as the Pensacola NAS and its great Naval Aviation Museum/Blue Angels recently but need to go further.

Over on the other DIS forums, the ticket price increase is being discussed.

In a nutshell, ticket prices recently have increased in February the last few years so we are approaching the annual speculation about the new prices.

Also, over the last year, the post-vacation survey sent to some guests has included questions about willingness to pay more for 1-day tickets during the busy times (+$20 for busiest times, +$10 for busy times, for example). This is referred to as "tiered pricing".

Universal this week implemented tiered pricing but it was discounts applied to the base 1-day ticket (for example -$20 for the slowest times, -$10 for slower times, and base price for busy times). If I am wrong about that someone will correct me. The speculation is that Disney is considering the "plus" pricing which is opposite of what Universal did.

Further speculation is that Disney will do this initially with 1-day tickets but anything is possible.

Thanks Ed. Me thinks it's time to buy sooner rather than later. I highly doubt that Disney is looking to "LOWER" prices in the foreseeable future.

I think it's interesting the philosophies of pricing though. Do we "Charge Premium" or "Give Discounts"? I think the smart "Marketing" guy (or gal) would opt for the "Discount" model. By this I mean the price is the same regardless of the model but how you present it is important.

Premium Pricing:
Base for slow time: 80
Premium for busy time: +20
Total Busy time: 100

Discount Model:
Base (Busy Time): 100
Discount for Slow Time: -20
Total Slow time: 80


The price is the same for Busy or slow time, it's just how it's perceived.

Well, all I can say is that I was in Paris in June (and London, Nice, and Monte Carlo) and went to Disneyland Paris on a weekday. They have tiered pricing there. My date was Low Season so I only paid $61 or so for a 1-day pass for the DLP MK. You can bet I liked it.

But if WDW goes to "plus" pricing, I won't be a fan. I don't see Disney doing anything to cheapen the ticket. Oh they will discount a room but they don't discount tickets. Plus I don't see how it would work for multi-day passes which are usually bought well in advance for FP+ reasons. Maybe the 1-day passes are bought more often on day-of-use.

But hey - this is Napria's thread. I dont want to go too far off topic.

PS - I checked the DLP website and the 1-day 1-park tiered pricing now is $64, $80, and $94 for adults. So DLP tiered pricing is discounted, it appears, and not plussed. A big percentage of DLP visitors stay off-site (hand raised) so discounting resort rooms doesn't get people through the turnstyles. To make the suburban train ride out to DLP from Paris, it takes a discounted ticket. But WDW has THOUSANDS of rooms on property. So if they get you there by virtue of a discounted room, they don't need to discount the ticket too...

Ed, I don't mind a little hijacking of this thread. The ticket price increase rumblings are probably going to become reality, and if it helps someone decide to get tickets now before it goes into effect, that's a good thing, right?

That Naval Aviation museum was pretty awesome! We went twice during our week there. My brother worked on jet engines on the J. F. K. Aircraft Carrier while he was in the navy, and my husband worked for Grumman designing automatic test systems for the F-14 and the E2C when I met him and for the first few years of our marriage. It was so cool to see these planes and sooooo much more!

I forgot you're in a popup. Yes, Fort Pickens is very nice, and would probably be great for you... If your popup could fly. It *is* difficult to get to from your direction!
