Flood is basement.. out of nowhere... my wedding pictures ruined, video camera ruined, CD's , computers, kids toys.. you name it.. ruined..

I was doin ok, until I found the wedding photos, and my cards from when I was a baby.. (my mom saved t hose!) I lost it then....

Gone.. all of them

Oh Cindy. :(

{{{Hugs}}} to you. I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your memories in this thaw :(
I've been in my basement for a while this afternoon and I have water seeping up from below. So far, nothing major.

That's terrible, Cindy! The same thing happened to us a few years ago - we lost photographs, tools, toys. Our sump pump decided to stop working and we got four inches of water in the basement.

Now we try to keep the important things on shelves or skids, although toys are still scattered everywhere. Do you have the negatives of the wedding pictures? If not, let them dry out and try scanning them and printing them. Even if the edges have water damage, you may still be able to zoom in and save important parts of the photos.

Cindy, I am so sorry... it is hard to lose precious memories like that :( {{hugs}}

How horrible. :( I am so sorry, Cindy. :(

Very sorry to hear what happened. Try to focus on what you do have and what was NOT lost. Most all of which you mentioned can be replaced. Time will help heal that which cannot be replaced. I know this is a difficult time and my thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry. I got that yucky feeling in the pit of my stomach when I read this, and I know yours must be worse.

Oh Cindy! :( :( :( I'm so sorry. My heart is breaking for you. :( {{{{Hugs}}}} :(

So sorry to hear about your loss. DH just spent about 3 hours next door helping our neighbor bail out his basement. His sump pump broke and between the rain and the melting snow, it quickly flooded the entire basement. He can't find an available plumber. I guess everyone around here is having the same sort of problem. :(

I am giving you a great big HUG. I am soooo sorry this happened.

I am very sorryt to hear about this. I know how you feel, we have had water in our basement also. We have learned to put things "on higher ground" and take really valuable stuff away. Right now I am monitoring our basement for possible water.

Hugs to you. Try to think of some way to get some photos back. Maybe you can get hold of negatives?? Or maybe ask people who came to your wedding for help if they have some pictures?? Best of Luck and God Bless.

Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear of your pictures! That is such a shame. We, too, have spent the day pulling up our family room carpet and digging a mote around our house for the water to drain!
Hugs,
Denise

Dan you have help for everything! You rock!
Cindy we lucked out last year after losing power during an ice storm--my neighbor's sump went first so I had an hour or so to run around putting everything off of the floor that I could, putting the treadmill on bricks, etc. I lost a LOT of HS/college memories in 3" of water at our old house, so I'm a stickler about shelves and keeping everyhing in rubbermaid totes. I feel horrible about your wedding photos! I hope Dan's link can help you out!!

Cindy, I am so sorry to hear that. :( I feel your pain....we had 3 feet of water once....lost so much like you did, freezer, furnace, photo albums, TV, etc. Unfortunately, I think we both learned the hard way that photos won't be stored in the basement any more.:(

Update...

Well, the sump pump is covered under the home warranty, and the plumber is coming soon..

I managed to spot dry the pictures, pull them out of the album and they are all drying on my living room carpet... the edges look curly, , and slightly sticky.. but better...

Homeowners.. not sure if this is covered.. because is this flood damage? or act of God? or what....

But they took the claim and the home office will open Monday morning.

Oh Cindy! How horrible...I hope your pictures dry out and that the claim is covered. (((HUGS)))

{{HUGS}} sorry to hear about this. when i was younger our sump pump went out. destroyed everything. worst of all, my mother had stored what we had left of my grandma's stuff down there. all i have to remember her by is a few pieces of jewelery.
