Recently, I found out that all of Comcast's phone calls were being sent to one main office...when you dial your local number, it automatically gets sent to their main office. No big deal. Yesterday, our remote control stopped working. We tried changing the batteries, re-programmming it...call repair, they tried to send a new signal to the converter box. Nothing worked. They tell me to take the remote to our local office and exchange it for a new one. I took it there this morning and they tell me there is a $15.00 charge to get a new remote. I explain to them that I have spoken to their customer service and they said just to bring it in (like I have done in the past whenever equiptment is not working). Still, they insist that they charge and the $15 will appear on my next bill. I left the office and immediately called the main office. Again, they tell me there is NO CHARGE and to go back and tell them if they have a problem to call their Plymouth Meeting office. OK....go back inside again and AGAIN they insist there is a charge. I tell them that their office says they are not supposed to charge. The superviser tells me "Well, we DO charge here!" She also wouldn't call the other office to confirm what I had told her. :headache:

When I got home, I again called the customer service dept. and told them they would not remove the charge. They told me that when my bill comes and that charge is there to call them back and they will remove it. They have noted my account and took the name of the local superviser.

It floors me that these cable companies are getting so big that they can try and pull this kind of nonsense! I really think they should allow more than one cable company in an area so that maybe they would think about what they can do to keep their customers happy. As it stands now, it's their way or no way!!!

Thanks for listening to me!!

Comcast is getting awful!! They have rearranged the channels again and I think I'm down to watching a total of 11 channels out of 94!! We now have multiple shopping channels, foreign language channels that cover almost every language out there, more local access channels than you can shake a stick at , but NO TRAVEL CHANNEL!!! I'm getting very close to going to the dish.

Comcast tried to charge us for a service call that was due to a problem with the way one of THEIR servicemen had originally installed our digital cable box. I was assured there'd be no charge for this but sure enough when the bill arrived, there was a charge on there. I called, and they did remove it, but who needs the hassle???

By the way, we have Comcast and we do have the Travel Channel. I guess they offer different channels in different areas...??

I'm here in college in Boston, with the basic cable package (minimum) and I get the Travel Channel.

I was so relieved when I saw it on the lineup!!! ;)

At home we have Cablevision, but I noticed that the commercials for digital cable are the same at home as they are up here (with a company name change). Was wondering if Cablevision is a branch of Comcast...though I am much more satisfied with my cable at home than up here.

We live in Muncie, IN have Comcast and the Travel Channel is ch. 19.

I just dropped my digital cable to basic - and it still costs too much.

but NO TRAVEL CHANNEL

I thought we had lost our Travel Channel too when they recently rearranged our channels but I finally found it up at 53 with other channels that I never watch (I found it by accident). Maybe it's there, somewhere?

I was told NONE of the Comcast areas had Travel Channel. (So much for my info, but what do you expect from Comcast? )

we have comcast and there is definatelt NO travel channel unless you pay for digital.

i hate comcast, but we have no choice. the last time we had a problem with something we called and the guy on the phone told us that we should just switch to digital b/c we were the only people on our block that still had regular cable. ummmm, yeah, ok whatever. :p

I used to work for Comcast Cust Serv!! I know all their secrets!! But let me tell you a few of theirs! One you need to get the name and employment number of the CSR who told you they would take the charge off. Half the time these Reps will not notate an account and then when ya call back to get the charge taken off the rep will be like I don't see any notes on the acct. BIG mistake!! Just make sure you get that info from them. If I were you I'd call back to make sure the note is on the acct and get that reps name and ID as well! As for the charge...unfortanetly the charge doesn't show until the next bill generates so they have no way of taking it off the account until it's there. It's a huge inconvienence..and as a rep we used to complain about it all the time. Oh and I never heard, in the 2 years I worked for them, of this crazy charge!!

I have to tell you, the customer service rep who I spoke to was very helpful and courteous. :D Not only did he give me his name BEFORE I had a chance to ask, he also gave me his extension and what hours that he worked! ::yes:: He also asked me to repeat it back to him.

I wonder how many people from our local office actually do pay this fee without even questioning it. I really wonder if they are really just keeping the additional money at the local level, if you know what I mean!

I really am not happy with Comcast either. Noggin hasnt come in for about 5 days now. And I hear ya lsyorke about all the "other channels" They are in the way and make you scan more than you need too!!

Im in Mass. and I think Travel channel is maybe 67, I still have not gotten my channels down, I hate when they do this stuff!:(

You know I hate to say this :( But am proud to say it! Two words... Direct TV. :p When DH and I moved into our house two years ago, we subscribed to Comcast an was truley disappointed. The customer service sucked plus some of the channels that Direct TV was offering they did not have in there line up. Also if you did not have the digital cable wiring in your area you were stuck with the basic high priced cable. Needless to say DH got on the phone and swithed to sattelite, we got all of the channels we wanted and then some. Plus got a sweet deal for switching to satelite. Now we are like pigs in slop and happy as can be for making the switch. If we ever have a problem there customer service is excellent and they get the problem fixed ASAP. :goodvibes

Comcast is not that easy to deal with. Unfortunately our region has no choice! The fact that cable is such a monopoly really stinks!

We do have digital cable through Comcast....so I guess that's why we get the Travel Channel.

Kimickey,

I have a question about Direct TV, do you have any problems with reception? We would love to switch to it and some of our neighbors have it, but I was told the reception is horrible and that when it rains, or snows, or blows, you will lose your picture?

Is that true? Or more of the Comcast BS?

We have direct TV here. WE live in country and OCCASIONALLY Lose signial but I think this is due more to where dish is installed than the service. I can think of 2 times in almost years that I've dated that we have lost signal due to weather and living OH we get our fair share of White stuff.

Count me in as a Direct Tv user, and I LOVE it. We got it about 2 years ago, when the cable prices got to be too much for basic cable. I live pretty deep in the woods, and occasionally lose some signals because of the big trees right in front of the dish getting wet, but almost always have local channels. We also sprang for the reciever with TIVO, and even if the signal gets jumpy, we've always got something saved to watch.
I'll never go back to cable.

We had Comcast and the reception got worse and worse. We would call for a repairman. They would always tell us it was our fault because our connections weren't right. Sure! We got tired of the same song and dance and switched to Dish. WOW magically our connections became perfect. We are so happy we switched. We would never dream of going back to cable.

If we get some HEAVY rain the satellite may go out for a minute or two, but that's it. Much better than Concast who would be out for hours.

I've tried to get them to change the name on our account from my maiden name to my married one for 15 years! Everyone else did it with a form letter I generated and mailed with the bills, even the credit cards. But, Comcast wants me to come to the office with an ORIGINAL copy of my marriage certificate, that they can keep!!

Just on principle I'm not doing it. 17 yrs of paying those people... (never late)

About 5 yrs ago they agreed to add hyphenate my name. Oh brother...
