I'm hoping someone can help me to decide whether to switch from our current Comcast service which says it gets up to 6 Mbps to a Bellsouth service that says it gets up to 3 Mbps. It just became available in our area, but unfortunately that is the fastest they have available in this area. We are not gamers but we do watch a lot of Youtube and download music but would like to save on any bills we can. Would this change in speed affect us? I'm guessing this would save us around $30 a month plus they are offering $175 in rebates to switch (hello Disney trip money!!). I'm so ready to kick the overpriced Comcast to the curb!!! Thanks for any help!

Id go with Bellsouth. Better customer service and generally better service in general. In the best circumstance Comcast would be faster but most likely you will never be getting the advertised 6 mbps. Same can be said for Bellsouth but I like bellsouth more as a company.

sorry I cannot answer your question. For we do not have Bellsouth. BUT I am in the SAME boat as you! I am sick and tired of Comcast calling the price shots every other month going up! I am switching over to Verizon! for all the TV, Phone and internet! and save about 100 a month!

see ya Comcast!

I'd get rid of Comcast in a second, if there was a somewhat viable option for us. I'm just tired of dealing with them. PERIOD!

With cable you share with everyone in your vicinity -- it's not all available for you. I can't say about Bell South in particular, but I know w/ AT & T that's all dedicated to you, no sharing.

I had Earthlink cable modem through Time Warner that I loved. Time Warner and Comcast traded areas to get more contiguous areas. I wound up with Comcast. After a few months of awful service, I fired Comcast and got Bell South. I had a few minor problems with Bell South, but they put a filter on the entire house and all the problems went away. Nothing but good service since then. It's been about a year with Bell South.

My son and husband buy songs off ITunes all the time, and sometimes videos as well. Never had a problem.

It was a real joy to get rid of Comcast.

It will probably be a bit slower, but if you could live with that, I'd probably say switch, too. We used to have Bellsouth / AT&T before we moved but they don't offer DSL in our neighborhood, so we are stuck with Comcast. Once AT&T gets their butts together and adds DSL to their package we will likely switch back.

There were issues with this way back when, but it's been way overblown by the DSL providers and isn't really a problem for most cable services today. Technically, everybody on DSL shares service at some point too; it's just a little farther up the chain.

I am in the other boat. We are planning on switching to Comcast for phone, tv and internet in a month when we move.

We have had Bellsouth DSL for the last two years. For the first year it wasn't bad but this past year has been horrible. We have lost connectivity at least 5 days a week for at least 1/2 hour for up to 2-3 hours. The recently froze my email account, no one can find a reason for it but it has created three days of HECK for me. Once I got that unfrozen I had to reconfigure the passwords for everything. However the next day it all reverted back to the old passwords and wouldn't let me one. Had to call Bellsouth to reset again.

Our bill is through the roof. We have the Fast Access 6.0 DSL and it is slow to load often. Our internet alone is $36, which isn't bad but our local and long distance are over are over $70 combined. We have unlimited long distance because our cell phone coverage is spotty and we live far from family.

We are hoping to get a good bundle with Comcast because between phone, internet and TV we pay more than $200 a month. We have a low end Directv package.

Any advice on the Comcast bundles?

We have a bundle deal with BellSouth and Directv. We have the 3.0 DSL and a wireless network inside our home. I love it! Great speed and low outage issues.

I hate Comcast.
