How is this normally done?

It will take us 2 days to get to the Fort and then we would need 1-2 days of down time before the cruise. We'd also want another week after the cruise to do Disney.

1. do we stay in a hotel prior to the cruise and if so where do we park our camper and vehicle while we're on the cruise? A little nervous about leaving it in a parking lot...

2. do we set up our site and leave valuables in our vehicle since we have a popup - go on the cruise and then return to campsite.

Would we still be able to use the Cruise line bus to get to the boat?

We are thinking about the same thing in 2011. Our plan is to go down for the first week, leave the coach at the campsite, for the four days, and come back after. Chances are some of our adult kids will be there too to keep an eye on things but that would not stop us if they weren't. The only problem would be the fur kids, if the adult kids don't make the trip we would have to leave them home and not bring them to FW. :sad1:

I've read that one too but I just am not comfortable with leaving our coach in an unsecured parking lot. I have gotten replies on the cruise board, plus we have been on one cruise already, and there is room to park an RV at the port. Of course you will pay the parking fees but those lots are secured.

A few years ago we surprised our 8yo and 6yo DGSs with a stay at FW for a couple of days then a 4 day Wonder cruise and then another stay at FW.

Had the option to park MH at Port or in overflow lot but chose not to since we used DVC points for site while we were on the cruise. With MH at site we were able to just drive back and settle in without the need to check-in again and then set up.

One of the best WDW/FW vacations we have had.

Now I'm not saying that I'm afraid to cruise,,but weren't/aren't any of you afraid of falling off the edge ?? :scared1:

we went on a 7 day cruise left our fw at the parking area at the front then came back and stayed at disney fw for a week. The only problem is that someone did mess with our fw. We left it hooked to the truck only thing we did was unplug from truck and put front legs down. When we came back to pull to site we took off and our fw came unhooked fell on the truck bed. We had 5000.00 damage to the truck none to camper. The tailgate stopped it from going all the way down.. The mistake we made was not to check the hitch. We didnt realize that some people would pull out the latch and push in just enough to make you think its still hooked up. The guy that sold us the fw said they will actually do this at rest areas and gas stations. Well we did what we should have done bought a lock for the hitch. We have been pulling for over 15 years never had a problem. Insurance covered it put as vandalism. Not saying that you will have any problems parking there but just check everything when you get back.

You'd be surprised at how common a problem this is, even truckers have to be careful.

We did that a few years ago, we had a pop up at that time, stayed at FW for 4 days went on a 3 day cruise and then stayed again for 1 week. We booked the campsite for the entire time and just left the pop up on the site. It was worth the convenience of not having to pack up to pay for the site, it also was about 7 years ago so the price of the sites was a lot lower.
We did not have any issues with the camper being touched.
